Ionic won't connect using Bluetooth on HTC 10

My HTC (Android) 10 can connect to the charge 2 my wife if using, but cannot keep a connection with the Ionic. The Ionic can connect to my PC running Windows 10 without a problem. So it seems as if the problem is between the Ionic and the HTC 10. Any suggestions. I need this to work with my phone, otherwise it's of no use.

@m_menocal My Samsung S8 takes a while to connect for synchronisation and it doesn't always do it.

Have you tried closing the FitBit app, turning off Bluetooth, deleting Ionic from Bluetooth, switching Bluetooth on again, pairing with Ionic and launching the application again? That worked for me first time I had issues.
