Ionic won't turn on

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I went to bed last night, Fitbit Ionic completely fine per usual, about 40% battery. I woke up at midnight to find my Fitbit would not turn on. I tried charging it since I have had battery issues with other models but it still will not turn on.

Have you tried restarting it several times? Give that a try. If that doesnt wake it up try a factory reset using the buttons. If that doesnt fix it you will need to contactbSupport (link in my signature) Let us know how you go

Restart your tracker

FACTORY RESET USING BUTTONS
On the watch, hold all three buttons for about twelve seconds. This triggers the 2-button hardware reboot after about eight seconds.
- When the Fitbit logo appears, then disappears, release the bottom right button, then continue holding the left and top right buttons until you feel a strong vibration. This indicates the factory reset was initiated.
- This process may take several seconds, and eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays go to Fitbit.com/setup.
- If you fail to release the bottom right button in time, or otherwise don't follow the procedure precisely, the Fitbit logo reappears quickly and boots without factory reset.

If the device turns on, please go back to the Fitbit app and setup your device back to your account with these steps. Make sure your watch is plugged into a wall plug or a computer, next to the router and that there are no other trackers or devices with Bluetooth on nearby when setting up.  Please log into your account, go to account on the upper right corner, there look for "setup a device" and tap on it. Follow the instructions on the screen and let the watch charge for 2 hours.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @KayKayNeels77! Before trying the Factory Reset that my @NellyG suggested, let's make sure that your battery is being charged when it's connected to its charger. Have you checked if the contacts on your tracker or charging cable are not dirty? Dust and debris can accumulate over time and prevent a charge. Try cleaning them by following these instructions.

I'm wondering, where do you charge your tracker? Have you checked if by any chance the USB port or outlet is faulty? If you haven't done so, try a different port. A UL-certified wall charger will also work. Don't use a USB hub.

If so, plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or a UL-certified USB wall charger.

Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the watch until attaches magnetically.

Charging fully takes up to 2 hours. While the watch charges, you can tap the screen or press any button to check the battery level, but it seems that the screen doesn't come up at the moment so I'd recommend waiting those 2 hours and then go for a restart (once again) by following these steps

Let me know if this helps!

Mine has the same problem. This is my 4th Fitbit , all have been their top of line model and none have lasted more than 24 months. Hopefully we all learn our lesson and quit buying Fitbit's low quality junk!

Hi @Moemac  the extended warranty from Square Trade? They have a deductible, much like any insurance company. Why not go that route?

Mine just stopped working altogether. It was completely out of battery so I connected the charger. 4 hours later the screen is all back. Can't even get to factory reset. Changed the wire too.

Weird that all of us are having the same problem and the only “solution” is I’m sorry you’re out of your warranty, Id be happy to offer you a 25% discount. A $250 watch should last longer than 15 months.

Same issue yesterday, any answer.?

After two chat reps, a phone rep and that phone reps supervisor. When the supervisor picked up the phone and started talking to me, my screen worked and the watch worked for a day and now it’s the exact black screen but now holding the 3 buttons and factory resetting it isn’t doing anything, even with a charge.

There is nothing we can do when the there is a hardware/software problem. Also, it is crystal clear that Fitbit will do nothing to fix it.

Let's move to another brand and spread the notice about the Fitbit's terrible marketing policy, poor product quality and terrible tech support.

I have my 2nd replacement coming in the mail now. My first one bricked after about 10 months, so it was still under warranty. They sent a replacement and it didn't even survive the setup before it bricked. I came here just to see what other people were experiencing and it appears to be bad news. Since the warranty doesn't reset when a replacement is sent, I imagine I'll just get replacements until my warranty is up then I'll look elsewhere.

Speaking of which, I have seen several people mention going elsewhere, but I haven't heard where (except Apple, and no thanks). So besides Apple, what are some good alternatives?

Also, maybe it's just the Ionic that's junk. I'll have to look around the other forums and see if this is happening with other models.

My Ionic is now dead, update got stuck, rebooted and now it won't switch on. Screen is a dark, lifeless black rectangle...
