Using my Jabra Pulse Sport the music playback plays for a second cuts out for a second and plays again for another second before repeating the issue.
I have checked the headphones on my phone and they work great.
Is this a compression issue on the songs? the songs are m4a tracks with a bit rate of around 279kbps.
I have seen other people have used the same headphones with no issues, what am I missing? and yes, I have tried resetting everything and switching things off and on and reconnecting but nothing seems to work.

My issue was different as it didn't matter what wrist I used.

My music connects fairly well to my headphones if I mess with it some, but I have to be sure that my cellphone's bluetooth is off. The headphones try to connect to my phone immediately; also, if I am using gps and music from the watch, I have to make sure no bluetooth is on besides the watch and headphones, restart the watch, play music, pause music, start gps run, and attempt to play music again. Most of the time, that fixes the issue. The gps really messes up the music if I do not go in a certain sequence to get it going and the music. It is really annoying, but it does work after messing with the thing for a few minutes before a run.

Hello everyone! Thanks for your participation on this thread regarding music and Bluetooth connection from Ionic.
Thanks for sharing your experience and workarounds that has helped you out.
If you keep experiencing the same you can try the following:
Also, you can try wearing the Ionic on your other wrist as Bluetooth connection could be stronger this way.
Another thing you can check is if there are any other Bluetooth devices nearby that could be interrupting the signal. If there are any, please turn off their Bluetooth.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

Surely you cant suggest for people to wear it on the other wrist as a solution

@driver111 Thanks for your reply and for sharing your experience on this thread.
I have seen other users reporting getting this sorted by wearing Ionic on the other wrist. So, it is worth trying and recommending it here, at least as a workaround.
It may not work for everyone, but giving it try is okay.
Now, the best thing to try is the other recommendation on my post above. Please check it out here.
It is about checking if there are other Bluetooth devices nearby that may be interfering with the signal. Check the environment in which you are working out. Turn off Bluetooth from other devices. I think this should help out.
Try that out and let me know how it goes!

Just thought I would post this.
I had mine replaced under warranty for all kinds of issues, mainly:
-Loud unwanted buzzing/rattle sound when vibrating
-Bluetooth music cutting out
-Calibration error messages
-Terrible battery life.
The replacement fixed all the issues. No more issues with music when running.

I am a brand new Fitbit owner (yesterday). I chose the Ionic and had super fast and easy set up/sync. I also have the Jabra Sport Pulse headphones so I had the music skipping every 2 seconds issue. I actually followed the advice of @driver111 to update my firmware on the headphones and....problem SOLVED!! Super fast and easy fix (about 5 minutes). My watch is laying on the bed and I am walking around the room, headphones are still picking up the connection. Not an Ionic issue at all. I had never done an update on my headphones since purchased in 2015!

Contacted FitBit by phone today. Informed them of the issue, steps I had taken to resolve the issue (and lack of response from forum moderator Santifitbit). Repeated steps while on phone with them (with their direction). Issue persisted. FitBit looked at forums and confirmed they are seeing alot of complaints about this issue. Stated they would escalate this issue to the engineers to seek resolution. I then inquired about a time frame for resolution, and what happens if no resolution is found in a reasonable time. While they could not give me a time frame (understandably), they did encourage me to call back if time had passed and no response was received. I mentioned reimbursement for a failed product, representative did not commit but stated they would see what action could be taken if no resolution was achieved. I encourage everyone to call FitBit and log your complaints, perhaps it will speed up a solution.

I haven’t responded to this thread since October. Since then, my Ionic had multiple instances where the screen wouldn’t turn on, Bluetooth connection was terrible every time I tried running (would have to unpair/pair multiple times before starting run), clunky clunky clunky OS, and eventually after 6 months the thing just stopped working and wouldn’t turn on. Thankfully, Fitbit has a 1-year limited warranty that I was eligible for. Granted, they have a weird process where you have to record yourself in front of a sheet of paper performing troubleshooting steps in order to qualify. I received my replacement Fitbit about 3 weeks later and sold that thing a fast as I could and got $180 for it on EBay. I used that money and got me a Apple Watch series 3 and it has been an awesome decision. Like seriously, these watches don’t even compare. If you want something to track your steps DO NOT get the Ionic. Get a blaze or something. If you want something that’s a smart watch and incredible fitness tracker get the Apple Watch. I wanted to like the Ionic so so so much I even bought stock in Fitbit after buying the device because I thought this watch was going to change things for Fitbit but unfortunately they couldn’t deliver.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately for me. I am not a fan of ITUNES format. The proprietary aspect of uploading music is an inconvenience. Also, I don't own any apple devices anymore, strictly android/windows format. I found it much easier to upload music from my 600+ cd collection...yes, I am old LOL. I haven't done the research yet but It appears that Garmin is coming on board with onboard music in the "forerunner" line. Hoping it proves better if Fitbit doesn't come through. I was a big fan of the motoactive from Motorola, but the discontinued it. I have also tried the Addidas smartrun which was very close to the fitbit ionic, but had a big flaw in my opinion ( battery life). Which I currently have for sale if anyone is interested. I just want a device that delivers... Unforunately I have spent a grand on **ahem** devices thus far.... The main feature I desire is on board music and spec tracking /gps all in one device. I refuse to carry a phone with me.

This reply is ridiculous, no offense. I have been wearing my watch on my left wrist for 40 years now I am suppose to wear it on my right side, seriously that's the solution. I tried it and it does not solve the problem. I think that is a cop out and Fitbit should have a better product. I have 130.00 Jaybird headphones, I am not about to try and buy another pair to test and find out of it is the issue. I do not have my headphone synced to my phone anymore so that issue is put to rest. Like one guy said it is fine if I do not move. Today I went on the treadmill it was good for about 7 minutes until I bump my wrist on the bar then like it always does it started cutting in and out. I like the fitbit and have had it for almost 1 year for keeping track of all the things I like to do, Run, hike, mountain bike, walk, jog, weights you name it. But not having a reliable solution for listening to music has really turned me off. My only solution I see is getting and Iphone so I can have an I watch, and I hate Iphones. I need to be able to go on a run, just connect the headphones and know that I am going to get the experience I was promised when I bought the fitbit. It's not like the box says hey by the way before you buy it you may need to wear it on a preferred wrist, or you may have to spend 1000.00 on multiple headphones. I love the concept like I said before but so far there are no threads with viable solution. Don't get me wrong I have had many great times and it worked properly, but for the 50+ times it has not worked it is driving me crazy. There is nothing worse than thinking it is going to work and be in a mid workout whatever it is then it happens. I am using the ionic and my firmware version is 32.10.20. If you have any real answer to this nightmare dilemma I could use some help. I may have to look elsewhere and that is a road I would rather not go down. Oh and just an FYI I have reset the watch more time than I can count that solution does not work either.
Sincerely
Darren

@lydiad1 Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to post your input on this thread regarding music cutting out.
In this case, please try changing the clock face to another one. This has helped other users in the past. You could also try wearing your watch on your other wrist. This has also helped in the past.
Also, please restart your watch to refresh its inner components. Have you noticed this happens when the screen turns off? Or does this happens when the screen is on?
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!
