Honestly, I've never had a more aggravating tech gadget experience. It would be a relief if the music sync always failed, but I've managed to make it work about 2% of the time, though never without at least an hour of hassle, and that has kept me trying. I've reinstalled and restarted everything multiple times, followed all the contradictory guides (start fitbit connect first ? start WIFI first ? activate "transfer music" in music app first ?) but nothing make the process reliable and predictable.
A few specific questions:
I really want to love my Iconic, but this is a nightmare.
Please fix some of these issues soon.

A few specific questions:
- Why does the IOS app say the Ionic is connected (green checkmark next to wifi network) while the Ionic itself says "WIFI Off" (in About app) ?
- Why does the "End Now" screen in the Ionic music app stay up (implying it's ready to transfer) even after the WIFI has failed / disconnected ?
- Why is it even possible to select the "Transfer Music" button on the Ionic when WIFI is not connected ?
- How can it take so long for the Ionic to make or fail to make a WIFI connection ? It's incredibly annoying to watch it fail over and over again when each attempt seems to take hours ...
- Why, even after the WIFI connection has succeeded (according to the IOS app and the About app on the Ionic) and the Music app has successfully entered "Transfer" mode, does the Fitbit Connect app spin it's spinner forever without either connecting or providing any feedback about why it's not connecting ?
I really want to love my Iconic, but this is a nightmare.

Hi @fairfit,
Questions that start with "Why" are the most difficult to answer. But I wanted to acknowledge your post.
There's a sticky at the top of this forum that goes over Music Transfer, that may have some of the answers you seek. Best of luck.

Most of my issues in this dept was related to the firewall.

Yeah, these are really design questions, so I don't really expect answers, but they seem like basic workflow issues that the designers/developers should have resolved before release.

Thanks, but as I mentioned above, I've read all that and it doesn't seem to help. Because, very rarely, it does work, I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing anything "wrong". The problem is that it almost never works.
At this point I'm going to try to enjoy the Iconic for reasons other than the music sync and hope that a future update to the ios app / firmware / fitbit connect will address these issues ...

Hi @fairfit,
I feel your pain! I've just bought an Ionic and I can't believe how difficult the whole music transfer process is.
Something this hi-tech and expensive shouldn't be this hard! So far I've had similar problems to you and it's taking hours and hours to transfer music where eventually the Ionic times out.
I don't think its usable as a music player.

Hi Fairfit,
Completely feel your pain and had the same confusing troubleshooting experience. It's absolutely frustrating because sometimes (rarely) it works, so I have a feeling that the troubleshooting is just a waste ... because it's 'designed' to operate in this clugy way! What a pain. Fitbit really needs to smooth out this UI/UX issue stat.

I've had similar issues. Seldom, in fact never, have I experienced such a rapid demise in a device as I've experienced in trying to put music onto my ionic. Putting mp3s on to a player is technology that was perfected by basic mp3 players over two decades ago.
Fitbit has some serious work to do here. My Ionic has been reduced to a useless hunk of metal since I tried to transfer mp3s on to it. Not only does the music sporadically disappear after upload, the watch now freezes, it permanently thinks it's charging even though it isn't and it's battery goes down about a percent every two minutes!
All I wanted to do is put a freaking mp3 on it! As I said this is really a very basic feature, so how have fitbit managed to get it so monumentally wrong? It's unbelievable. I really don't understand how it can be so bad?
I posted a comment about it but haven't heard anything back. There just doesn't seem to be any recognition from fitbit that this music feature is absurdly inadequate to the point that it has rendered my device useless! It's outrageous!
