My ionic suddenly quit accepting a charge, I have tried turning off and on and resetting but nothing is helping, husband also has one and his charges fine so I know the cable is good.

I'm writing on behalf of my husband. We both have Ionics. Mine was purchased in Dec 2018 and he bought his Jan 2019 and it stopped charging Jan 2020! We have read all of the advice, pressed all of the buttons, cleaned every post and prayed to no end that his EXPENSIVE tracker wasn't intentionally built to FAIL!  After reading message, after message within the Fitbit community regarding charging issues, I'm frustrated because the problem seems to be pervasive.

Fitbit, what are you doing to address what appears to be a default with the device?  We purchased your trackers in good faith and personally, my husband and I don't have money to throw way.

Hello @BBINNE and welcome to the Help forums.  Have you tried cleaning your charging contacts?  Fitbit recommends cleaning your charging contacts with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush.

Mine stopped charging yesterday too.  Coincidence?

My Ionic wouldn’t accept or connect to the charging plug. I cleaned the the contacts with rubbing alcohol but no success?

Frustrating when you let it become part of your life and then feel adrift.

I went to the help page and it said try to restart my ionic. I followed the instructions (holding the back bottom and the bottom button on the right for ten seconds) the fit bit symbol came on and my watch started to charge. Hope it works for you.

I feel what you are.  I feel like I am being set up to replace it every year or two and wonder if other smart watches wear out as quickly....

Go to the help page for Ionic and follow the directions on turning your ionic back on( see my previous post) I was having the same problem. Once I stared my ionic back up, it started charging. Wearing now fully charged.

I wasn’t getting a charge signal from watch when charging it. I still had it connected to the charger the followed steps to turn my watch back on. You need to hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds, then the charging symbol came on and much to my surprise the watch was actually charging for a while. Wearing now fully charged. Hope it works for you.

Hi!  If it's within the year of purchase, call Fitbit Customer service, explain your situation and they might send you a new watch (no band). Mine would not respond to either of my charging units (black face), spoke with them (mine was at 11 months) and they sent me a new watch unit  ;-D... We're 6 months in.  Unfortunately, if this one dies at 11 months, it is not under warranty...  ;-(  So hopefully this replacement will have a much longer life!

Thank you and yes, I have tried this several times. It is simply not responding. My husband also wears one and his is working well.

Mine died a few days ago and I've done everything that's been suggested in the forum. Nothing works. It's just completely dead - won't charge, black screen, nothing.

Kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth doesn't it?

Yes! It's very disappointing. I makes you wonder if this is planned obsolescence to make us buy a newer smart watch. I loved it while it worked!
