My old ionic wouldn't turn on anymore so I got a new one. I've never used it. I removed the old Ionic from my fitbit account and then tried to add new the one. The app found the new one and starts the firmware update. It only gets to 10% and then the update fails. I've tried: 1) Force stopping the app and trying again, 2) turning the ionic on and off, 3) all the things in How to Update my Tracker, 4) factory reset mentioned in this forum, 5) I've tried updating it via my Android phone (Samsung 7) as well as my laptop (windows 10), 6) I've tried updating via the wi-fi (the default) and Bluetooth, 7) and a bunch of other stuff I've found in various forums. Nothing works. My alta still synchs fine.

@ImTryin have you tried turning your old ionic watch by long-pressing 3 buttons at the same time? I think it is better that you don't update the firmware of your new ionic. Oh wait, does your new ionic fail to turn on too?

iFor me what happens is: I am trying to update my Ionic to the new firmware. Whether I do it "by Bluetooth" or "by WiFi"... whether I try on my iPhone, my Pixelbook, or my Windows 10 laptop... I've tried removing it and re-pairing it across all three devices. I tied rebooting. It always fails. This has happened probably 20 times now in the last two days. It gets to ~ 7%, goes back to 0%, gets to 7 again, and then fails. Every. **ahem**. Time. Is there any fix for this, or is the watch bricked???

Same issue here. I even contacted Fitbit directly and they're hiding from the answers too. No response. May be time to return this heap and just go Apple. I'm tired of tall these issues showing up in the last 9 months

Miriad of similar issues being reported on the forum today. Clearly something seriously went wrong with the update. Mine is completely dead and won’t respond in any way. They should seriously pull the update and sort out their software before losing more loyal customers

Agree 1000000%. I had a similar issue. At first I was going to go Apple, but I wasn't a big enough fan of their styles, so then I thought ah well, let's give fitbit a chance.... This is the 2nd issue with 2nd device within months...Luckily for me, i'm still under warranty. I use this watch everyday, sometimes 2-3 times daily. I don't have time for this nonsense, especially when they don't even return emails. A company like this needs to get their $*** straight if they are to survive. Companies popping up left right and center to sell a better product. Want loyalty? Provide loyalty.
Packaged up already and I'm ready to return it today. I will be buying a high end watch instead. Likely Tag Heuer Connected.

Yes, I tried pressing and holding all 3 buttons. The thing is deader than a door knob. It was working fine one day and then dead the next. I'm wondering if it had something to do with the firmware update.

Everyone needs to make a statement. RETURN IT AND COMPLAIN IN FORUMS. This is the only way to make change! The WEST was won, not handed to us. Hopefully they will get the message.

I purchased a new iconic 4 days ago and still struggling with firmware update.
i think it is time to make the drive to Best Buy and return this product.
the time I spent trying to make it work exceeds the purchase price

I have exactly the same thing. Mine is getting to 100% on the down load and then says "Updating" with a spinner rotating for an hour or two. Tried it on several devices and with Bluetooth. VERY FRUSTRATING.
This is my fourth Ionic in two years, and it doesn't work. None of them have lasted more 10 months before failing, and some failed in days.
