New ionic won't pair with phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have turned restarted this phone, off other phones, turned off Bluetooth, turned on Bluetooth, and tried to get my phone to pair for almost 2 weeks.  It won't work.  Anyone have ideas?  It gets to the point of saying "Found It!" and won't connect to tracker.  I've let it sit over night without pairing

I'm really pleased that you managed to get it working again.

The point I want to make is. We shouldn't have to do all this. This should be a simple thing to do.

My Ionic was worked perfectly for about 3 days until this mornings update. Now it's back to being a gimmicky watch and nothing else.

I'm really frustrated and wish I could send it back.

I still have the same time issue Smiley Sad

Watch syncs OK - but time doesn't change.

So I'm on holiday and my phone instantly updated to local time when I got here.

Synced the watch - and it's stayed on BST.

The PRIMARY function of a watch is to give the correct time - and the Ionic doesn't even do that!

One thing that seems clear to me is that the forums are not a good place to get tech support for ongoing issues. Sure, we users can post our solutions but FitBit needs to address these issues with their devices and their apps, and clearly they aren't. Why? Most likely because they rarely hear about them. The moderators of these forums have stock replies that they provide to common issues but they are clearly not FitBit support staff (and I'm not knocking the moderators since they're just doing their job within the confines of that job). It's time to start actually engaging FitBit support for this. If they get flooded with support requests maybe then they'll take action.

The link to support is a bit buried so here it is: https://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US&cu=1&fs=ContactUs

So frustrated!!! Tried every suggestion on here, and yes, my phone is compatible! I’ve had most of your Fitbit trackers throughout the years, and have never been this disappointed/frustrated! Seems the more it costs, the more problems it has!!

Gets to found it and will not connect. (Ionic)

IPhone 6 + worked until yesterday when it wouldn’t sync.

I have tried restarting the phone, unpairing bluetooth, restarting the Fitbit Ionic, uninstalling the app, unpairing ALL bluetooth devices, in multiple orders.

None of it is working. And yes, my phone is compatible. Woke up last week and for some reason my Ionic is now 14 hours and 30 minutes behind.

Really annoying.

I have to give Santi credit for sticking around and trying to help out Fitbit / Ionic users however........

Shame on Fitbit for releasing a beta unit. My Ionic journey has had a lot of ups and downs compared to my Blaze which worked perfectly without a glitch at any time. My Blaze experience gave me a great feeling when I got the Ionic. No amount of installing updated apps, starting and restarting my Ionic, starting and restarting my IPhone, whispering softly to my Ionic (works with my cat occasionally), seems to have any lasting effect. Time won't sync you say? Don't worry, you will be back in your original time zone eventually. Can't see a map from your last run. No worries, it will show up next week. At least before I could get it to work if I spent enough time (mind you, I'm talking spending HOURS screwing around with this thing) but now I'm in a whole new place. After uninstalling my Ionic again (10th time?) and starting to reinstall (which has worked in the past), it hangs at 'Enter the number on your Ionic's display' and i can't get it off this page so I can't see the Fitbit app at all except where it is hung up.

Well at least I don't have to worry about any annoying sync issues anymore because my Ionic can't connect at all! So what I'm left with is something that shows me the time and date which in 1995 would be pretty cool.

The bang you just heard is this **ahem** hitting the corner of the trash can on the way in.

Garmin, are you home? Can we talk?

I've had the ionic a little over a year now, it's been a bumpy ride to say the least.....

The first one i had i was reasonably happy with, apart from syncing troubles it actually worked fairly well until one day i noticed the screen was coming away and popping out, no way was this product waterproof so i got in touch with support, credit to them after i sent pictures they confirmed it was faulty and sorted me out with a replacement.

Now the real problems start, this one doesn't sync at all for days then all of a sudden starts to sync, this will happen on and off pretty much all the time.

The gps is sketchy to say the least, sometimes takes 10+ minutes to find a signal, when you have warmed up for a run only to have to wait 10 minutes to find a signal it's pretty frustrating and annoying, i spent a good half hour trying to find solutions for this.

I have been in touch with support over this device for its inability to function correctly, i have factory resetted it no less than 10 times losing all the data for that day, lost run data, lost gps signal while out running, randomly resets itself during exersizes.

Now today i was out a run, gps connected in just a few minutes, stayed connected and then run was finished now to sync the app..........

no joy, that's when i unpaired the app and followed pretty much every step in every post in this forum, i am stuck at the enter code bit and it's going no further, to say i'm p***ed of with this would be an understatement.

Since i've had this tracker i have spent literally hours on forums and talking to advisors trying to fix the problems that come with it.

Honestly expect so much more from a watch that cost me £300 brand new

RE: syncing to GPS. I did figure out a way to work around this issue. When I was getting ready to ride (pumping up tires etc), I started the timer and immediately hit pause. This usually takes about 1 second so it doesn't change my total time but it does start to sync the Ionic to my phone GPS. When you are ready to go, just resume the timer and the GPS is synced. Not perfect but waaay better than waiting around at the very moment you want to go.

I cannot connect my fit bit ionic to my new phone LG V30. Please help me with this! These two items are too expensive to not be able to use together!

To add to the list any of complaints...the compatibility list is way out of date. I have an LG G6.....good old G3 is the latest....ha, what a joke.

My issues surround what happens when my LG G6 phone and my watch are separated for more than about an hour. No, I don't wear my watch all the time. Shocking, I know. Anyway, that's when it loses sync and will not reconnect. Here is what I have to do to re-establish that connection:

1. Go into Settings, then "Connected devices", and then "Bluetooth". Find your Ionic in the list, click the gear icon next to it, and hit "Unpair".

2. Go back until you're on the main Settings menu again, and this time hit "Apps & notifications", then "App info". Scroll down until you find the Fitbit app. Hit that, then hit "Force stop". Click "OK" on the warning popup.

3. Restart your phone.

Once I do all that, my phone is re-sync'd to my watch. Apparently the issue is that either the watch can't tell when it loses connection to the Fitbit app, or the Fitbit app can't tell when it loses connection to the watch. Because of that, it doesn't reconnect itself. What's interesting is that when the watch and app are syncing, the Ionic doesn't appear in the list of Bluetooth devices. It only shows up there when it's NOT syncing. Go figure.

Had the same problem, just leave your bluetooth on and your Fitbit paired to your phone for a couple days straight. The problem corrected itself eventually

Hi,

Thank you for your reply,

It pairs and comes up with that error, so does the pairing not drop off when you get that error?

Thanks
