Not notifying calls and texted messages

My Ionic stopped giving me notifications for incoming phone calls and text messages.  Why?  I tried shutting it down but this has not changed anything and I also checked to see if notification is on and it is.  I am baffled.

There are 2 places for settings that I have found... 1 on the device to enable during sleep or exercise and 2 in the app.

swipe right on the screen --> Notification

Swipe left on the screen -->settings --> notifications

Just to be sure: did you swipe from left to right and on that screen checked the Notifications settings are set to: Receive from phone?

That is the page were also the Scrfeenwake option visible is.

This can be changed by accident.

Mine also stopped giving notifications a few days ago. I tried turning notifications off/on, messing with a bunch of settings, but no luck.

I checked and it is set correctly.

So frustrating.  It was working great and then it stops.

And the phone is not in Do-Not-Disturb mode or in Priority mode?

Then my knowledge ends here.

If the phone is in DND or in Prio mode, then i can help a bit further.

For me the Prio mode worked about a wee, then suddenly stopped.

Maybe for you too???

Just read another thread about this problem.

There was someone, who disabled the blinking led on receiving messages and then suddenly everything worked as expected.

Maybe check your settings for the led blink options.....

Yeah, frustrating to see how many people are having this issue and I am as well.

i have rebooted the watch, phone, looked at all settings in the phone and on the device and in the app. No luck.

The watch is setup correctly and not accidentally changed I’ve verified many times just to make sure.

I’m receiving Fitbit app notifications but nothing from the phone like calls or text messages. Once I received a call notification and nothing since.

Figured it out for my issue. iOS has changed since the instructions and troubleshooting were written on Fitbit’s site. Anyway, after a ton of testing, the option on my iPhone “Show in History” under messaging notifications needs to be on. Without this it just plain doesn’t work. With it on, works just fine. Hopefully this helps someone out there.

I’m running an iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2.1, and yes, Apple officially is throttling my phone 😕

Note that it still seems to be intermittent. I feel like this is some incompatibility to iOS rather than a device flaw. Maybe it’s some Bluetooth hardware power saving strategy that it isn’t connected full time or something but who knows.

Restart your Ionic.  That seems to have solved the problem.

Non of these solutions fixed the problem for me on iOS I found it to be a Bluetooth issue on my phone.

Firstly fully close the Fitbit app by double tapping home and swiping up on Fitbit app. Then slide up and disable Bluetooth for 10 seconds for the watch to realise the connection has been lost. Then turn it back on again. Send a quick test text to see if it fixed

I did your suggestion and it worked! Thanks so much! I have no idea why it stopped working, but I am guessing it was my iPhone and not my fitbit. It could be that dropping and shattering my iPhone's screen  yesterday did it. 😞 Not a good day.

That is a bummer that your Iphone's screen shattered.  Hopefully today is a better day for you.  I am glad that your issue has been resolved.  When my iconic is not working correctly, I find out just how much I depend on it.

Thanks for the solution.  I wasn't receiving notifications, but had it turned off under Notifications:  "Receive from phone."  I assume I'll get them now.

I found out I had inadvertently turned the notification off on my Ionic.

If you scroll left (from the main / clock face) you see a "notifications"
line. Below it will be a "Receive from phone" menu choice.

This is probably an uncommon problem, but since I had a defective first Ionic, there were two listed in the Bluetooth list on my iPhone 6.  Deleting the first one (showing as "not connected") appears to have solved the issue.  HTH.

My text and call notifications do not work, and I have used all the trouble shooting tips I can find for well over a month. I just got off a very frustrating and lengthy call with Fitbit support. By the end of an over an hour long call turning notifications off and on, working in the app, on the watch, and the phone, the Fitbit rep said there was nothing more he could do to help and Fitbit was aware of the issue. He gave me a case number and said someone would alert me when Fitbit develops a solution. So incredibly maddening!
