Hey!
So I am super excited by all things Ionic, but am running a race within the next 2 months. What is the release date that it will be able to be shipped out if preordered?

@Rob71 wrote:@RoyG96 I have not seen anywhere that NFC won't be ready at launch. That's a bit disappointing. I must have missed the memo.
Yep. On the setup screen (the one that shows while you are waiting for updates to download) it lists the features, and it says "Pay on the Go (coming soon)". Maybe it will be ready by the official release date of October 1? Or is it October 2? BTW...updates are taking me about 14 minutes to be downloaded.

@Rob71 Yeah the people that got it early to review said that Fitbit set it up for them to use the NFC payment so they could see how it was and the reviewers also stated that it was not yet available until release date which I guess is Oct 1 for US and Oct 2 for UK (That is what I think but not sure if the release date is going to be the same for both UK and US)
@SteviK it looks so much better in the pic you took and it looks great on you!

If it's anything like any of the other mobile payment systems I wouldn't hold out much hope, at least in the UK anyway. We have the infrastructure with the majority of places accepting contactless but the negotiations with the banks are a painful process.

I preordered the device 21st of Sept. I got a delivery notification that I am all set to get device after Oct 3.
That is 2 days after general availability. If I did not pre ordered it I would have just gone to local bestbuy or macy or other store and got it earlier.
Way to treat loyal customer FITBIT. What's the meaning of preorder If my friends can get device 2 days faster without preordering it from third party store??
I contacted fitbit support they did not help at all.
Edit: I live just few miles away from their HQ in San Francisco

Actually it shipped yesterday. Be patient folks. I called customer service yesterday and they were really nice, but they didn't know it shipped already. They said they would call today at the close of business to let me know, but I already got a tracking number. I am going to show you my fedex tracking info for proof.

See my tracking information below. I should get mine Sept 27 or 28. Good luck to everyone. I am so excited. Thank you FitBit. I ordered 2-3 weeks ago. It shipped out yesterday. I kept in touch with Fitbit Customer service. I am impressed that they staffed up so well for this launch. I think they are doing the little things right.

So excited. Thank you, Carlos. I am a stock holder and a Fitbit user since 2013. This is my third model. The tracking and features only got better and better. Now they need to utilize the Pebble eco-system and get that app store going...

Glad to hear it's like a copper. I was hoping that would be the case. My wrists are a little over 6 inches...I'm concerned of it looking over chunky on me. I don't mind a little bit. Just not a lot. 😬

@tnarro I just bought a bunch of Fitbit stock as well. It's still on the low end and I would certainly expect it to trend up with the release of the Ionic. Case in point....since notice of shipments have gone out the stock has gone up 2%.

I am sad, mine is out for delivery, In Nashville, but I am 3 hours away until further notice. So while mine is being delivered today, I won't see it for who knows how long, unless I get someone to overnight it to me. Lol

@Kat_W Interesting - I am just south of you in Mboro and mine was supposed to be delivered today as well. Must have sat at Fibit overnight thought and just got picked up by FedEx this AM and should have it tomorrow. Can't wait...

I'm going to wait until it's in store - expected to be early next week here in Germany. Also, gives some time to get input from those of you who've already received the watch 😉
I'm pretty sure the sports side will be okay even if a few obvious metrics and features are missing - running cadence, open water swimming, etc. I'd be most interested in hearing what smartwatch features are available and supported on launch. By the sounds of it, it's not going to be much in the EU.
