Update: The issue resulting in syncing trouble for Ionic users has been resolved. If you're still having trouble with syncing, please check the steps in this article.
Good morning Fitbit Ionic users! Thanks for flagging the syncing issue with Ionic. Our engineering team became aware of an issue that affects syncing for some Ionic users. We are making progress on a retroactive fix for this and look forward to resolving this as soon as possible.
If you'd rather not wait for the system updates, you can use the following workaround:
- Go to your phone's Bluetooth Settings and remove Ionic from the list of Bluetooth devices
- Open the Fitbit app and remove Ionic from your Fitbit account (Account>Ionic>Remove)
- Next, setup your Ionic watch again
For those of you who don't have time to try the workaround, rest assured that our team will fix this issue.
Don't let this bump in the road get in the way of reaching your health goals for the day! I will keep this thread updated with the latest.
Appreciate your patience, everyone!

I meant controlling your phone's music playback using Ionic... Anyhow, fear not for I installed the new beta firmware. Here's the observations:
- Installation took about an hour, with Fitbit app first trying to do it via Wifi even though I wasn't connected to the network chosen for Ionic, and Ionic wasn't connected to any Wifi either. After about 10-12 minutes spinning wheels, the app changed installation over to Bluetooth, and 50 minutes later -- voila! -- the new firmware is installed
- I rebooted the watch and the phone (Essential PH-1, Android 7.1.1) and so far -- don't want to jinx -- things look good. The watch sync'ed with the phone at least 2-3 times, notifications are flowing quickly
- Music controls now show the artist/track information. Yay!
- The call controls (accept/reject) aren't there. Perhaps, should talk to Fitbit support. This feature used to work with Blaze
- Non-English characters aren't there: anybody reading Cyrillic, Hebrew, Greek, Arabic, and so on will be out of luck
So, we've got 2 out of 4. Here's wishing for the next update.

Hi,
I've read the message from CarlosCFitbit regarding syncing issues resolved.
Still, after having worked perfectly for 20 days, I now cannot get my Ionic to sync.
I have followed the descibed steps, but when trying to connect to my Huawei Nexus 6P (google-phone), the telephone finds Ionic but when trying to pair, there pops up a timeout after 1 sec.
The Ionic worked perfectly for 20 days (bought on March 26-2018!), and I expect it to work for a few years. But now..... I have 100 days open purchase..... so I start wondering....
I wonder if I by deleting the Fitbit App on my phone, and then download it again will solve the matter?
I like the most about Ionic so I really hope this matter will be solved.
Thanks and regards,
Roy

@Sjakkmatt Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with Ionic not paring with your Nexus 6P. Thanks for following the steps given to sort this out.
Are you still experiencing the same? There are a couple of thing you can try (like deleting the app as you said) to sort this out:
- Force quit the Fitbit app.
- Reset Bluetooth (turn it off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on).
- Restart Ionic.
- Log out from the Fitbit app, reboot your phone, log back in to the app.
- Delete the Fitbit app, install it again.
Try the process once again after doing each of the above. Check this helpful article for more details on this.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes!
