Really frustrated with continuing sync issues

I keep having syncing issues with my Ionic. I've tried just about every one of the troubleshooting procedures in the forum (reset watch, phone, clear cache in the app (I'm on Android), complete reset of the watch, making sure it's charged, etc.) and every time it gets better for a day or two and then I start having sync issue again. This is totally frustrating! When will this get better?

Sorry for the negative tone, but I'm a little steamed by now... 😕

Welcome to the Community @HerbCSO! I appreciate the troubleshooting that you've tried. I totally understand your frustration as you've performed some steps trying to resolve it. I just would like to confirm you've done this syncing troubleshoot

Reply to the following questions:

- What type of phone do you have?

- When did this start happening?

- Are you receiving any error message that's not letting you sync?

I think I've tried every official (including the one you linked) and unofficial troubleshooting process.

At this point the only way I've been able to _somewhat_ "reliably" get a sync is to:

- force-close the app

- clear cache

- try to sync, which usually fails the first time

- try to sync again, and if im lucky it'll work

Sometimes I have to throw in a watch and/or phone reset to get things working again. Needless to say all that is highly frustrating.  😤

I've got a OnePlus 3. I've had problems all along syncing, but over the last 3-4 weeks it's been this bad. There's no specific error message, just an error status icon (!) in the sync.

And to be clear, synching isn't the only issue I've been having.

- notifications are intermittent to non-existent (go figure, given the sync issues)

- alarms have been spotty at best

- step goals reached don't seem to generate the fireworks reliably (I've posted about that before)

- updates have all been suuuper-slow (3+ hours!? C'mon!)

Just all around it hasn't been a great experience.

I’m there with you.  I’ve experienced all the same over the past week and a half!!

I am having the same sync issues with android app. Ive done all of the above multiple times.  The only way i can get it to sync is to shut down/restart the ionic and then sync.

Has anyone tried setting the Ionic up as a new device? This will not reset your data in the least.

Ive done this multiple times, its just very random. I seem to have the most trouble in my house, im not sure why. When i get to work i still have issues but i can get it to sync more often. And i have the all day sync option selected and it never just does it, i always have to initiate the sync in the app.

Turn off all day sync and always connected.

(Yes you will still continue to receive notifications).

So when i got home it started not syncing again. This morning i turned the bluetooth off on my computer and it started syncing to my phone fine in the house, i guess it was confused maybe about which one to sync to. Thanks for the help!

Keep the settings as I stated.

assume all software and firmware is up to date.

You may need to unpair bluetooth, reboot the watch and your phone, and then perform a manual sync in the app. I assume all software and firmware is up to date (including android).

It can often take 15 mins or after you've booted your phone or watch to connect. Same for being in aeroplane mode.. in order to get your notifications. Then they should work fine.

The other day I decided that I was going to stop spending an hour or so a day trying to get ionic to sync, and just use it as a watch. Today my watch is 30 minutes behind, because of course it is. I now have a $300 **ahem**ty flashlight.

Please do not ask me if I've done the **ahem** sync troubleshoot. I've done that everyday since I bought the thing. I've waited through two different firmware updates hoping that these issues would be resolved, and they only seem to get worse. Such a terrible product.

Tips have alresdy been given in this thread. Return it or contact support and vent at them I suggest. Forums aren't going to help you unless you are looking for a solution which needs a polite two way conversation.

Ok.

Here's the best tip you will see on this topic: Return it if you can. Nothing is going to fix it. Ionic is a bad product and you will only waste your time trying to troubleshoot it.

Agree. Persistent syncing issues with my Charge 2 as well. Don't buy.

So I feel I owe an update here. Since several watch OS updates ago, things have been smooth sailing, for the most part. I've still got occasional sync issues, sometimes notifications require a phone reboot to be restored (announced through a helpful message on the phone). The other issues I listed:

- notifications are generally OK now, although I've turned most of them off

- alarms seem to be working better, although still not quite 100% (some of which might simply be due to the relatively mild vibrations not able to wake me up)

- step goals seem to fire more reliably, can't recall missing one anymore

- updates have still been slow, but it's been a while since the last one, and I don't think it took over 3 hours anymore

So not 100% yet, but not enough to make me get rid of the watch. ;] Honestly, it's been a lot better. I'm running 27.33.1.30 now.

Oh really?  not for anything but a two way discussion you say? Politely I ask, are you the law here? And politely I proff, that I believe, that you, are not. Good day dictator.
