I want to start running but ill be walking at times as its been a long time since i ran. Which is the best function on the watch to use. Run or walk bit? Or the strava app? And will this update my activity or will i need manually added it

I would just use the "Run" exercise shortcut, unless you want specific intervals? In that case there is an "Interval timer" shortcut where you can set intervals for running and walking.
