Hi 🙂

I just got the Ionic for Christmas and I used it for the first time yesterday at the gym. I ran on the treadmill so I put in exercise <treadmill run> and when I compared the values they were way off. I usually do the same run and approximate speed and it was off by more than 2 km and pace by a few minutes (I run between 4-5min per km and my ionic read 6.38). I stopped it and tried changing it to just the <run> and I ran 1 km and my ionic read it as 0.28km. I had a garmin before and did the same run and it was very accurate. For 400$ I certainly expect the watch to be very accurate! I am not impressed so far with the accuracy but perhaps I am doing something wrong...any advice would be appreciated please 🙂

Thanks

Samantha

Did you auto or manually start these exercises?

I'm seeing the same, mostly the HRM is WAY off, if I let my Ionic auto-start (my rides, at this point, but I'm going to test a walk today, day-off from the saddle today) a walk today, and see if  it plays out the same.

If I let it auto-start my rides, my BPM averages are off by 30-45 (over a 1:45-2:45 ride(s)), compared to when I manually started them.  Same routes, almost the same total times, but it's like the HRM is almost not working, when auto-starting an activity.

I went back and compared against my Charge2 logs, and they're almost the same, as the manually started ones, or correct HRM for the ride/intensity (ex-road-racer, I still ride a lot in higher zones, mostly).

I auto started them both! I also turned off the auto pause to see if maybe that will help... My HR seemed to be somewhat accurate although I do not have much to compare it to. Sometimes my RHR is definitely not accurate but I think overall it is not too bad...
