Sad day My Ionic = R.I.P

Well despite all the care and support to help ensure smooth operation and longevity my Ionic died today. It started with a screen that wouldn't light up except for a very very very faint light that kinda went on and off.  It had been working fine then simply stopped.

It was still syncing and the heart rate lights were still flashing. I put it on charge and still nothing came on the screen, but the app did say it was charged. These things happen nothing is ever perfect so I decided to take it back to the shop, this is where it gets scary.

While on charge the watch was fine, as I put it back in the box, it was fine. In the 10 min trip in a cool air-conditioned car something began to change.  When I got to the store and went to take the watch out of the the box to show the tech person what was wrong, I **ahem** near burnt my fingers off.  It was HOT extremely Hot even the screen itself was almost too hot to touch.  You could not hold it for more than a few seconds without risking burning your fingerprints off (fine if you want to live the life of an assassin) I've never see a device like this get that hot before esp when not even on charge.  I swear there is a very likely chance that it could explode, even the tech took it out of the box and put it somewhere cool just in case.

Despite this setback I still standby the Ionic as a very nice piece of tech with some good functionality (although I really wish they'd put a mic on it, I've always to be like Michael Knight from Knight Rider and talk into my watch).

And So like a Phoenix rising from the ashes (see what I did there) I have a new Ionic to wield and can once again continue my sedentary (er um I mean Active) lifestyle and count them steps.  Of course if the setup doesn't go as smoothly as before I'll throw a major tantrum.

Tantrum averted. Setup this time was a breeze, except for having to restart windows to kick my usb bluetooth dongle back into life (just a cheap device). Wi-fi up and going without hassle, even transferred my existing playlist onto the new Ionic without any problems. Notifications are working and everything else seems to be in the green, lets just hope this one doesn't threaten to explode.

All the previous tips and tricks I've read here worked like a charm (well the ones that work that is, I didn't try the ones that don't work) 😉

Glad to hear it's working again! Maybe the first was defective?
