I noticed yesterday that there was a huge and deep scratch on my fitbit Ionic. I thought the glass was gorilla glass and was supposed to be unscratchable!?!?

No glass is unscratchable. Gorilla glass is scratch resistant. I still think it is a good idea to use a screen protector. A wet install one will probably reduce the appearance of the scratch you have and save it from future ones. I use IQ Sheilds.

As @NellyG says, gorilla glass is just that, glass. It will scratch if it comes into contact with anything harder then itself on the Mohs scale, eg. Sand particles, diamond etc. It should withstand most everyday wear and tear, but definitely isn't scratch proof.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @RedRuby2313! Fitbit Ionic's screen is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It should be tough and damage resistant.
How long ago do you have your Ionic? Do you remember when the screen scratch appeared or after what kind of activity? If possible, please share a screen shot of it on your reply.
Thanks for your help on this @N8teGee @NellyG!
