Screen doesn't wake unless button is pressed

I have a fitbit ionic. Version 27.70.8.0. Screen wake is set to motion, but motion doesn't wake the screen. Button presses do wake the screen. Notifications still wake the screen. I have restarted the fitbit. I factory reset the fitbit. I uninstalled and reinstalled the phone app. My screen hasn't come on from motion in over a month. 

 

Suggestions?

I appreciate the troubleshooting tried prior to posting.

Since you're tried the possible troubleshooting but your Screen Wake isn't turning on even when it's set to "motion".
