It’s not solved it’s completely died now with nothing working at all.

Sorry to hear mate. I think the admin's put in that solved bit just so it looks like everything is going well.

Try holding all three buttons in for about 10 seconds, if you feel a vibration let the bottom right button go and that does a factory reset

Factory Reset

  1. Remove the Ionic from your account.
  2. Delete the bluetooth pairing.
  3. Press and hold all buttons on the device.
  4. Wait until the Fitbit logo disappears, then release the bottom right button.
  5. Wait until you feel a vibration, then release the other buttons.
  6. You will probably see a red X message, just ignore that and setup the device again.

My 4 months old Ionic did the same thing after the last firmware update.

I did an online chat help session with Fitbit and they determined it had mysteriously developed a screen fault.

They shipped me a replacement unit, I'm just picking it up now.

Until the last firmware update, it performed flawlessly.

Coincidence?

Let me set up the new one and I'll let you know.....

I had a similar experience right before my battery completely died.

My watch was a year and a half old though, and fitbit will do nothing except offer me a "discount" off MSRP which doesn't amount to much considering the device has been on sale for a similar amount.  fitbit desperately needs to address this issue, as I imagine that nobody wants to rebuy a device that will just die again fresh out of warranty.
