I recently purchased an Ionic and was thinking about putting a screen protector on it. Firstly, do you think this is "overkill" or a good idea? If a good idea, is there one that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance.

I understand. I will take your advice and purchase a screen protector soon. I'll be setting up the Ionic tomorrow most likely.

It's beyond a good idea, for me it's a must.
If you look at the price of a screen protector vs. the price or replacing the Ionic, it's one of the best investments you can make. I recommend a protector that goes on "wet". Also the clear TPU cases for the frame of the Ionic work really well to prevent scratches. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Are there any specific ones that you recommend? Are the wet ones difficult to put on and once those are on are they permanent? I don't necessarily want a screen protector that would sort of be glued on.
As for cases, do they add a lot of size to the watch? Ideally I'd like to keep it as minimal and simple as possible.

You can just do an amazon search for them, so you get one that has good reviews. The wet application helps to eliminate bubbles. They can be removed no problem.
The case adds a little bit to each dimension. It's not critical, unless getting scratches on the case is unacceptable. I use one when in the gym so it doesn't get damaged by iron plates.

Thanks again.
So, you mean both a screen protector or case would not be necessary as long as I wouldn't mind scratches on the device? In your opinion, would a case be better than the screen protector?

Just curious...you prefer just the screen protector because the case would conceal too much of the watch and would not look as nice? (I'm sort of leaning towards just the screen protector film myself)...

I have a Zagg protector on mine. Works great. I thought I messed up putting it on. I thought it wasn't applying. I got irritated and threw the box out and gave up. I looked at my watch and it was on perfect (other than squeezing out bubbles).

Just purchased a Fitbit Ionic Screen Protector Frame from Amazon and it's a combination screen protector and frame that covers the entire screen and body and looks great. So far I haven't noticed any impact on the touch sensitivity at all and I feel so much better knowing it's totally protected. You can look at it here:
