If I use the app (Android) to say I'm going to sleep, all I get are the old measurements (just straight bar I got with the Surge). If I let the watch detect sleep, it totally misses hours. I barely made it into bed before I passed out last night at about 9:45. It thought I was awake until 11:43. I got up just after 5:00 to see that I only had a little 4 hours of sleep registered. So I went in and edited the sleep to 9:35 just so it might pick up the unquestionable sleep I got right off the bat. Nope. It did pick up some light sleep between 10 and 11 but it thought I was awake until 10:45. I did briefly wake up at just after 11:00 and I was in the exact same position as when I fell asleep.
I do have the sleep sensitivity set to NORMAL. I'm wearing it on my non-dominant arm. I'm going to have to buy another sleep tracker. Any recommendations?

Hi @ImFineStopAskin it's nice to see you on the Fitbit Forums. Welcome!
Thanks for reporting the sleep tracking issues with your Fitbit Ionic and for all the troubleshooting steps that you've tried until now. Since Fitbit Ionic has automatic sleep detection we don't recommend to use the Fitbit app to start your sleep. For those erroneous logs, you did a great job editing them. Thanks for letting me know that you have checked sensitivity information.
In this case, I'd recommend to restart your Fitbit and confirm that it is up to date. Then you can give it a try again. For more details about sleep tracking you can take a look of this article: How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
I'll be around in case this issue persist, keep me posted.

I'm still struggling with this nearly a year later. I have to continually do the same thing - edit my sleep hours. Once I'm in bed, I'm out in about 5 minutes or less but Ionic doesn't recognize it for sometimes two or three hours. I clean the sensors every day, reset the watch, adjust the tightness, etc.

I did a reset yesterday but it missed 2 hours of sleep last night. When I tried to fix it, it removed all the detail (heart rate, sleep stage, etc.) from the track. I'm looking for other sleep trackers at this point. I had a Blaze that did a better job at tracking sleep.
