Sleep tracking

My ionic stopped tracking my sleep today since morning I slept and napped a lot but no update.  Despite refreshing , restarting the device and now the device but seems like this was lost.  I used to have charger 2 and never encountered such issue.

Mine (both ionic and blaze) records a sleep activity even when I am actively at office. I have been manually deleting the noisy sleep records religiously everyday. This has however stopped for the past 3 days or so and I am battling excessive inflammation from a local event.

You may have to follow the old school troubleshooting route, shutdown, power down, factory resets, uninstall app / reinstall  etc.

Same happened to me. Slept last night and received only the simple sleep tracking, no sleep stages or graph. There have been no changes to my phone, ionic or the way I wear it since the last successful sleep stages tracking the night before.

I found this happened earlier in the year for the Charge 2 and ended up being an issue on the Fitbit side. If there are a few people posting here with issues in the last 24 hours then I suggest Fitbit investigate on their side.

If sleep stages werent recognized then could it be possible you didnt sleep for atleast 5 hrs which is a minimum duration for stage recognition?

Sleep duration was 6 hours 39 minutes, sadly that's about usual for me and has been sufficient for stages to work the last 2 weeks

There is another documented restriction which is about how you slept. If you slept in any manner which makes it harder for the sensor to read your heart beats, sleep stage tracking will not be possible. It is based on the periodicity of your heart beats. If the device had difficulty getting the data it wants, then sleep stages wont be tracked. For example, being an athlete, I sleep on my back all the time and the device has so far never complained from my Blaze days. Perhaps your sleeping position makes it harder. I misinterpreted the original questions assleep was not at all recorded.

Where did you hear it's a 5 hour minimum?

I believe it's 3 hours to track sleep stages.

It is three hours minimum stated right in the sleep stages itself in cases when not tracked. Sincere apologies for the erroneous reference.

Hey v

this is would be the issue if I slept less than 3 hours and I won’t get get detailes of my sleep stages , but I meant earlier my sleep is not recognized at all.

I reboted the watch and and hopefully this would solve it.

Thanks 🙂

I have my New Ionic 3 days now and it only recorded sleep stages the first night. I’m sleeping in the same position every night. Tried tightening my strap last night too.

What else should i be trying. One of the main reasons I bought the watch was for sleep stages.

Hi mada

what seemed to be helping is resting the watch , press all the bottons (2 right and one left ) until the Fitbit sign apprears again.

This is morning my sleep was tracked so it seems that it worked.

Hope me it works for you

@Kneaimi @Venkats @mcbooth @Mada82 A very warm welcome to the Fitbit Community!

I can confirm that your Ionic should be worn snugly but not too tight about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone and sleep would need to be recorded for at least 3 hours for Sleep Stages to be recorded. I would also be sure that your Ionic's battery isn't low, as this could also prevent Sleep Stages from being recorded.

If you are still experiencing issues receiving Sleep Stages, I would try refreshing Ionic's system by performing a restart as @Kneaimi suggested. If you continue to not receive Sleep Stages, please let me know.

For anyone else experiencing issues with Sleep Stages, I would highly recommend giving this article a read to ensure that you are getting the most out of your sleep. Smiley Happy

Thanks @MattFitbit! Sleep tracking has worked fine on the 2 nights since then. It is unusual because the Ionic was worn identically to every other night and battery was above 50%, nothing was different on that night or since then. Anyway, hopefully continues to function well.

Love my Ionic by the way, but getting impatient for an update to address various bugs and add some new features..

My issue was that I was clicking the “sleep now” option on the app instead of letting the watch recognise it itself.

Why is my sleep pattern getting less and less detailed the longer I have had my fitbit.

I have had it for less than one month and the sleep pattern started good with lots of data like the, Awake,REM,Light sleep,Deep sleep and a bar graph with the (time spent in each stage of sleep)

Now I'm just getting a very simple pattern with Awake,Restless,Asleep.

Out of 30 sleeps I have about 15 of each layouts but the last 6 have been the simple (**ahem**) patterns.

I have tried the wrist band tight/loose cleaned the watch, full charged.

Fitbit Ionic.
