What is the point of having Spotify on your watch if you can't use it without your phone? If I need to have my phone near I'll just control Spotify with my phone not my watch.

Some people might prefer to leave phone in pocket and control from wrist.  If that is not something you want, just don't use it.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Trying to get the most out my $250 watch.  Exercising or running without a phone would be great.  Other than music my phone doesn't get much use when I am exercising or running.  So you can see why a watch being independent from a phone is desirable.

I use it when cleaning my house so I can just leave my phone and speaker in one room while running around

I find this absolutely ridiculous.  I partially bought the most expensive fitbit going as they claim it has to ability to download music to the watch.    I have called multiply times, but they claim I have to have a downloaded list on music to my computer.   Who has a music list on their computer anymore?   I use spotify premium myself, but no way to download.  I am pissed.  Renders that option useless.   They need to move into the now, not the past.
