Step count when using power tools

Whenever I us my snowblower or other power tools I notice the jump in steps being recorded. I'm sure its the vibrations recording the steps. I have been taking my ionic off whenever I am going to operate known vibration items, but its a pain if I forget to put it back on..

Was wondering if there was any other solutions or if anyone else encounter the same problem. Thanks

Hi @Generalchaos,

It sounds like you have it right about the vibrations adding steps. Fitbit has created a custom activity called Driving that will delete the unwanted steps if you provide the start and stop times.

Here's an article that describes the process:

@GeneralchaosIt will always occur with any wrist based tracker.. I have found that the bad evens out with the good over time.. I have the same problem with weeding and shopping where I gain and lose steps.. Because I wear a Fitbit One as well I know the difference and happy to accept the gains on abnormal wrist actions.

You can use a manual activity like driving to override that step count but you will  lose your active minutes and steps for the time period. Your HR graphs will still show and the calories expended aren't affected.

Thank you. I have used this a solution a few times now. This is definitely much better then taking my fitbit off and forgetting to put it back on again.
