Yesterday my Ionic recorded over 46,000 steps when I was sitting almost all day. I logged in a "driving" activity which wipes off the hourly chart but the total for the day remains at 46,000.
Any ideas on how to rectify this?

Hello,
Every time I have an issue like that, and it's frequent, I reboot my watch a couple times. That always seems to fix the problem I may be having.
When it didn't hold a charge they said reboot. When it said I climbed 97 stairs (actually 4) I rebooted and that fixed it. When it wouldn't sync to my phone …. yup rebooting fixed the problem.
Hope it works for you.

Welcome on board @deepamsanghi, it's nice to see you around the forums! While reading your post, I was wondering if this is the first time that your Ionic counts too many steps? There are 2 things that came into my mind about this.
The first one is that it seems that your tracker forgot to reset the information by itself, when this happens, even if you try to restart your tracker, delete the app, negate the steps, this won't work. Everything will be back to normal the next midnight when your tracker resets the information as it should. There's nothing to worry about my friend, this happened to me once and I had to wait the next midnight in order for it correct itself (I know this can be annoy, I feel you). Did you check the next day to see if your tracker was working as expected?
On the other hand, sometimes this happens as a result of a fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface that Ionic was placed on. If this is the case, please try placing Ionic on a different surface without any vibrations and check if the same persists.
I had a similar issue a long time ago. I left my Ionic laying on my CPU and due to the vibrations from it, my tracker was tracking steps. I faced with this twice in a row until I decided to charge my tracker from the CPU to my Mac.
Also, if you haven't done so already, please perform a restart on Ionic just as my friend @DavidQ suggested.
If there's any questions present, let us know.
