Surge vs ionic

Hi hoping you can all give it opinions, I've currently got a surge and unfortunately have had to get replacements for faulty straps and most recently a faulty battery and screen , I have been offered 50% off any unit or yet another replacement I'm so disheartened with my bad experiences with the surge im contemplating just biting the bullet paying half and going with an ionic ...... what's everyone's thoughts on this yay or nay????

@craisinHi again.. We probably waste many $50 over the years like buying petrol (gasoline) at the wrong part of the price cycle. Examine the following because it's the same physical hardware with same sporty addons..

Read this and then the Forum posts

Me, being a Senior, none of the extras suit me

Ionic (OS 4.2.1, 27.72.1.15), Android App 3.45.1, Premium, Phone Sony Xperia XA2, Android 9.0

I'm a senior too! (67)

Like you, I think the "coach" is an unwanted addition, but I am a computer programmer and am very keen to program the watch face and add apps. Do both versions have that?

@craisin  Smiley Happy I'm a more Senior, Senior another 13 years and a very retired Engineer and IT - done it all specialist...  I prefer the KISS system, but always like the challenges and I'm more into Fitbits baselines, HR etc. comparisons of the earlier trackers and still using my Fitbit One to keep the wrist type Fitbits stepwise honest.

As the hardware's the same you can program the Adidas version..

I'm sure you will get the mental enjoyment out of programming the Apps and you will find some like interfacing in this link

Enjoy you purchase as I am

Thanks Colin!

I can't help it...I always have to have "the best of everything" so  I am still going for the Adidas model
just in case I want to see my Abs for the first time (currently deeply hidden). For $50 I am prepared to confidently pay for any unused extras, since this might be the only bite of the cherry.

Thanks again for all your help.

"Keep on walkin" 🙂

Just following up to my last post, Colin.

I now have the Ionic (Adidas model) and IT IS TERRIFIC!

The battery seems to last quite a while in spite of the fact I have GPS on all the time and music
while I am walking.

I am now venturing down the path of designing my own clock face and even writing an App to run on the watch (haven't thought of a good one yet).

Thanks again for your comments which led me down this path.

@craisinWith that enthusiasm you will succeed with your endeavours.

Even with all of the negative posts in the Ionic Forum I'm having no issues and I'm sure you won't.

In the Fitbit Pay topics, users say they are having to switch clock faces to try and get Fitbit Pay to work. Mainly going back to Fitbit designed faces and away from the 3rd party faces.

I'm sure you will work around that..  I'm using the Fitbit Pace clock face.
