Syncing issues with Ionic

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since a couple of days the time on my Fitbti ionic is running slow. It runs several minutes per hour behind.

The only way to get it right is to start en exercise using GPS. But this is only temporary.

The same time it also have problems synchronising to my android phone.

I've done several things described in other topics (restart watch, disable and enable bleutooth, reinstall app, ...).

Only the last option also solves the issue, but only temporary. After reinstalling, I notice that the time is out of sync 15 min later.

Why this suddenly gets out of sync and how to solve this?

regards

Hello @miquelhoutmont, welcome to the Community Forums!

First, I appreciate your effort and patience for troubleshooting this situation prior to posting, I understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. To further investigate, can you please let me know which mobile device are you using? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your mobile device that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed.

Then, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.

I'll be around if you need anything else.

Hello,

I'm using a Motorola g7 plus.

Some extra information:

- it started by the time on the watch running slowly. Overnight it was about 40 min of difference. The watch showed me 6 o'clock, while it was 6.40.

- I've already rebooted the watch several times

- I've disabled and enabled bleutooth several times

- I've restarted the phone several times

- I've removed the fitbit app from my phone several times.

Two times I managed to have a connection again, but again the time ran slowly and connection failed.

After reinstalling the app the last time I cannot even connect to the watch anymore. The attempt to connect is stuck on the page "not working? Make sure your watch is charged and turned on, restart the watch by pressing the left and lower right buttons. Turn off bluetooht on your mobile device, then turn on again. Try Again."

When I click the button try again it keeps stuck on this page. Previously it went over to the screen where it was searching for my watch. But this won't work anymore.

I think I've done all the described procedures, but now I'm completely blocked.

It is indeed frustrating knowing it has worked well untill last week.

@miquelhoutmont,

I have a G6 Plus. On the phone go into settings>Apps & notifications>Fitbit. If not there go into See all xx apps. Hit Fitbit>Storage>CLEAR CACHE. Back arrow and back into the App info and hit FORCE STOP. Get out and start the App again. Scroll down to sync. If this doesn't sync after several tries (give it 30secs or so on each try), hit your user icon top left, then under devices hit Ionic and Sync Now. As mentioned, might have to try syncing several times.

The Ionic needs to sync fairly regularly as sometimes the clock goes wonky when free running. Other times it stays quite accurate. Go figure?

Hey @PaulMe ,

It didn't work out. No sync was possible.

Now I've done a factory reset on the watch. But I can't connect it to the fitbit app.

The app keeps on searching for Ionic, but doensn't seems to find it.

It seems like the watch can't connect anymore via bluetooth.

On the Ionic go to Settings>Bluetooth tap and scroll down to Restore Music Controls. Select pair. Back out and on your phone go into settings>Connected Devices and Pair new device. If any Ionic or Ionic Classic entry make sure you remove those before asking the phone to search for/pair new device.

If you get a successful pair. Keep in mind you may need to occasionally do what I said above re-stopping the Fitbit app.

If still no luck. Install the app on your PC/Mac and if you can pair and sync to a computer/laptop then looks like a phone issue. You may have to consider a phone reset. Make sure it has done a resent backup. A phone reset is a PITA, but not much else you can do I'm afraid.
