Text Message Preview on Ionic

I need to turn off message preview for privacy reasons. Not the notification itself containung the name of the sender, but the actual preview on the watch showing the actual text message. I’ve turned off text message previrw in the app and synced and rebooted the watch which does not work.

Thinking of returning this watch and going back to the blaze because that worked well and didn’t show previews. Thank you!!!

You can control the preview from most phones. Go to your phone notification settngs and you should be able to turn off messages. What phone are you using?

I was going to suggest that @NellyG 🙂 On iphones, if you go to System Settings - Notifications - Messages, there is an option to toggle Show Previews.

Android I’m less sure about location for that, as I’ve not got one of those these days. More trouble than they’re worth, imo 😉

I’m using the iphone 7. I have already turned off previews in the phones settings as I don’t like text previews on my phone. That works and I just the name of the person texting me. I expeced the fitbit to follow suit but it dosen’t.

The problem is i’m a doctor and when i’m on call the vibrating alerts are brilliant as the help me responed asap. But for obvoius reasons i need to protect the nature of the incident to protect peoples privacy. I can’t have previews so if I can’t find a way to turn them off then i’ll have to go back to the blaze.

Any help finding a solution would be appreciated.

Hmm, seems you’re right (just tried it). I’ll have to play around a bit and see what’s what.

Unfortunately this was an update for version 3.0 software. There is no way to get only a vibrate and stop notifications from automatically lighting up the screen and automatically showing it’s content. Don’t waste your time with customer service - they will have you do a bunch of troubleshooting and a factory reset before finally telling you that it isn’t an option to get vibrate only without notifications automatically showing. I can’t believe that fitbit isn’t more concerned about privacy - this is how companies wind up getting sued by someone who feels like their privacy has been violated... about the only thing you can do is go to the suggestion for this at the link below and vote for it - if enough people vote to have this fixed then they will change the status from “not currently planned” to maybe actually fixing the problem!! Or the other option is to go with another device from a company that actually CARES about their customer’s privacy...
