Since upgrading to Firmware 27.32.4.19 The today app no longer stays on the screen when selected - for me I wish to see this rather than the clock face as I wear a watch anyway and the fitbit is for steps / fitness not to tell me the time. How can I keep it as my active view like I used to on the old firmware please?
I actually preferred the old firmware so if it's possible please tell me how to roll back

I've noticed this also, Gutbucket. It does the same on all screens except specific exercise screens; that is, reverts to clock face after a short period of time. I haven't measured it but believe it to be around 3-5 minutes. You are correct that this did not occur previously and I don't like it either.
There is no indication in any documentation (I've checked it all) that this even happens so obviously there is no setting to change it unfortunately.
And, no, Fitbit has no provision to install an earlier OS or prior update.

I'm seeing the same thing when taking a walk. I start "today" to watch steps etc, then notice a bit later the Ionic is back to clock face w/o being touched. I find this rather annoying.

I agree wholeheartedly! I use the Today screen all the time as it's so easy to check all the stats and monitor heart rate while exercising. I don't like the look of the new layout either, too fussy. I thought it was perfectly fine as it was. This new update is really awful.
My GPS seems off too as on hikes I know well the cues for each km are in the wrong places, out quite a bit, and the total km at the end differs from what is recorded on my Surge. I wore both together this morning and there was a difference of around 1.5km between them in the total recorded, the Ionic being less.
There's a very good saying that comes to mind that Fitbit should maybe take note of " if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!

Jim, your problem is easily solved. As I said earlier, there is a screen that does NOT revert to the clock after a time and that is an exercise screen. Look in the Users Manual starting on page 40 concerning data available to you during a walk or any other exercise.

That's a workaround, not a solution, cbwilsa. I have the pre-latest firmware on my Ionic, and have the today button mapped to the top right. I can click on it at any time and it stays on this screen, and I can instantly see two active stats, i.e. HR + steps, HR+stairs, etc.
I do not have to start a "run" and have that thing eating my battery all day. It's *not* the same thing, and this is not a solution.

Shield, I hope Jim has a better reception to my suggestion than you which I don't consider a "workaround" but a better solution to his particular exercise need. Rather than moan and groan about what I don't have, I prefer to learn all I can about what I do have. Different strokes for different folks!

C.B. Thanks I do use the exercise APP when I'm off to, say, do the 4 mile loop around the neighborhood with GPS and Music or Pandora. However, If I'm going out to the patio to knock off a couple K steps for the hour, I don't start an exercise, in part because I don't need a GPS map of my 50 step loop on the patio and there's less drain on the battery, as I typically don't use the music or Pandora from the Ionic when doing this.

I guess pointing out the obvious is moaning and groaning now. Something all Ionic users had working perfectly just a couple of weeks ago is now broken. But, I'm sure I'm just complaining because I'm afraid of change. Yep.
Apparently Fitbit is like many other companies (ie Sony) with fans who will defend it to a fault. Even when oversights are made. Sigh.

I had to read CB's reply again - yep, still dumbfounded by that apologist response.
So one should just be in "exercise mode" 24/7 now? Most of the time folks try to stay active all day; hence the X number of hours with 250+ steps.
You do realize the hit on battery life, right?
You do realize you can't view the weather, stopwatch, main clock face, notification menu, etc. when you're in the exercise mode, right? You can only toggle between your stats until you end the exercise.
You do realize how much this will screw up your main dashboard for when you *do* actually want to time a run. I mean really.
This has to be the silliest solution I've ever heard.
This is another option. Just put back "TODAY" how it was before, and make it available to those who want it. Isn't tough.

Silly works for me. What do I know?

Ahh, so you're not going to address any of my points on why it's a bad idea? Workarounds/band-aids are not solutions. Let's see you get anywhere near the advertised 4-5 day battery life doing this.

As a matter of fact, I get 5-6 days between battery charges. Also, incidentally, I'm liking the "revert to clock face" feature more and more since it requires much less use of the back button.
