This morning I updated my ionic to FW 31.1.29. Since the update completed the touch screen no longer functions, notifications are not working and the brightness of the screen doesn't change with ambient light. I've tried resetting the watch but the issues persist. Is there anyway to attempt reinstalling the FW or rolling back to the previous release?

Support provided a way to factory reset without access to the settings menu.
1. Hold all three buttons until the device shuts off
2. Continue holding all three until the Fitbit logo appears and disappears.
3. After the logo disappears release the lower right button.
4. Continue holding the left button and the upper right button for 10 seconds.
After the reset add add device to my account like it was new.
I had had to do it twice but screen functionality has returned.

Not being able to swipe makes getting to the "hyperspace" reset to factory impossible.
All I can suggest is a few resets in succession with the hope touch returns so you can swipe over to settings, about, factory reset.
If you can't swipe after a few tries, contact customer service chat and let them know what you've tried.
I have a spare ionic, so I will attempt the update and let you know what happens jk...

I haven't had the update just yet, but I know a lot of folks here have and this is the first I saw of this issue. You said you did a restart, I would try to do a few more so you can do a factory reset. I know it stinks because it erases all your presets on the watch, but it may solve it for you. You can also do a chat session with Fitbit, they may offer a different solution. Here is the link to the help page, just in case.. http://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US

step 1, I shut down ionic from menu
step 2, powered on and sync'd to mobile
step 3, I touched the pink download/update icon, "update tracker"
...gray scale moving logo popped up to indicate updating on tracker and "downloading" bar progressing on my mobile... stepping away from it while the download does its thing 6:28 - 6:38
(read the release notes for entertainment - nothing there other than general info)
installing... 6:40 color fitbit logo pops up on ionic and progress green screen begins to sweep
6:44 screen turns green, then white, then dashboard.
Swipe OK, checked settings and all seem normal.
Update is OK @jkmonkey, for sure check with customer service for options.

I'm having the exact same issue after the firmware update and doing a factory reset hadn't solved it. Still not working . Support hasn't been a help yet

I have the same issue - tried to restore to factory settings after guidance from support via chat but it still doesn' work. There is a nasty error message displayed which I can't shut down as I can't use the screen. Support actually made it worse as now I can't even see the time. I also used it for swimming for the first time and wondering whether it has something to do with tha.
