Tracking steps when not in use

I take my Fitbit ionic off and place it in another room every night because the first Fitbit ionic I had kept tracking steps even while I was sleeping. When I saw the Forum had a similar problem the response to the problem was to keep it away from fans for some reason. So I kept it in my office. I've had my new one for about a month and each night it would reset to zero steps for the next day. I woke up this morning walked into the office and found that my watch had over 4,500 steps already logged. ( i took my watch off before midnight) My first Fitbit ionic I had to get rid of because after it did not reset for the first day it would continuously not reset so the second day when I woke up I woke up it read 25000 steps. I am hoping this is not going to be the issue with this one as I really like the watch. Does anyone know why this is doing this and also how I can fix it. There's no use having a step tracker if it's tracking more steps than I'm taking.

I am having the same problem!  I mistakenly set my fitbit one next to a fan last night, and it recorded 20000 steps while I slept!

Its not just a fan. Dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU can fo it as well.

You can enter a driving record to get rid of them
