Hello I just purchased the Ionic fit bit and took it to the Gym to see if matches the treadmill. I did my normal run but noticed the distance and calories were off not by a little but a lot. My questions is this I expect there to be a little difference but not a huge difference. This is my first fit bit and wanted to know if this normal for fit bit??. My street run distance and calorie burn are close to my treadmill distance and calorie burn.

Best Answer@stubub sounds to me like your stride length is out in settings. You can either go for a few gps tracked runs outside to have the Fitbit calibrate (not sure how good it is at that) or you can enter your stride length in your settings. In the app, go to your account tab, scroll down to Advanced Settings, then scroll down to find Stride Length.
Best AnswerAlso, how do you know the treadmil information is correct? (Gym machines are often not correct as they are not recalibrated all that often, even if they start out accurate)

Best AnswerWell before I bought the fit bit I was using a runner app on my phone and like I said times, distances, and calorie burn were very close. Like I said I didn't expect them to be the same but close. To me 1 mile difference and almost 200 calorie is not close.

@stububas far as calories burned, Fitbit is also using your heartrate data, so unless you were wearing a heart rate monitor on the treadmill, your Fitbit is going to be more accurate. I find gym equipment to often over estimate caroler burn.
Have fun with your new Fitbit!
