Have restarted phone and Fitbit, tried another phone, turned on and off Bluetooth etc etc
i then reset to factory settings but it now just flashes that I need to download the fit bit app on the phone. I have done so on multiple devices so I think blue tooth just no longer works on the Fitbit blue tooth working fine on both phones with other speakers etc

To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which mobile device are you using with your Fitbit? Because you completed a factory reset procedure on your device, you need to set it up again like it was a brand new device. Therefore, I recommend you to check all the information that's specified on: How do I set up my Fitbit device? to check if all the requirements are correctly configured to setup your device.
After checking the requirements, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why can't I set up my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes. Please make sure that your mobile device is compatible because due to a compatibility concern you can experience connection difficulties.
