Unlock Ionic with your Phone

my watch wont let me in. It keeps saying "unlock with your phone" on the screen when I tap screen.

Ive tried resetting and turning it on and off.

When I go to tap on device lock it says change pin but when I press on change then it says its block  and another screen comes up with device authentication failed.

I'm losing patience.

What kind/model of mobile device do you have? 

 

Please try the following:

 

  • Log out from the Fitbit App.
  • Reboot your phone.
  • Log back in to the Fitbit App.

Try to unlock with your phone once again:

 

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image. 
  2. Tap or click "Device Lock".
  3. Find the option to reset your PIN code.

This has, unfortunately, not worked for me. This has taken hours.... very frustrating

I had to do a complete factory reset, which you can find on u tube. I tried everything else with no luck.

I was nearly going to throw my watch against a brick wall, I was so frustrated.

Have you tried the factory reset workaround already? It seem this helped @SunsetRunner so maybe you can try that too. 

 

To do a factory reset:

 

  • On your Ionic go to the Settings app.
  • Tap "About".
  • Tap "Factory Reset".

Wait for the reset to be finished and check if you keep receiving the same error message as before.

How are you supposed to factory reset it like this if the screen is locked? We cannot get to the settings.

I ended up removing my wallet details, uninstalling the app and reinstalling and then going back into the wallet which reset it from there 🙂 no factory reset needed!

It's great to have you here @smey! This message is usually received when the pin is entered incorrectly 10 times, you just need to unlock Ionic using your phone. To do so: 

 

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap Device Lock settings or the Wallet Tile. 
  2. The app prompts the customer to remove payments data. NOTE: This does not remove all the data on Ionic, just the payment data: 
  3. Add the cards to the Wallet app. Once the data is removed, the customer can set up Fitbit Pay again.

I know that feeling when you follow the prompts to unlocking it just keeps saying that it failed, is there another way to unlocking my watch (Versa)?

I didn’t have a passcode or fingerprint lock on my iPhone. I turned the passcode on my iPhone back on and was able to then unlock the Fitbit and change the pin. I was getting the same error messages of device blocked and then prompted to change pin but device aurhentification failed. I don’t have a credit card stored on mine. Quickly unlocked once I set the codes. Hope that helps 😀

Thanks. I eventually loaded Fitbit app onto my laptop. Remove my versa from
my iPhone and added to my laptop app and was able to unlock my versa. Seems
to be a game of trial and error 😊

But how do you get to settings if you can't unlock your Fitbit?

Hey there @sasiwat and @AndyDavid! You need to perform the instructions from your phone, since your Ionic is locked. Please confirm you're following these steps: 

 

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image. 
  2. Tap or click Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to reset your PIN code.

My ionic won't even turn on now so the app doesn't connect. It is fully
charged.

Have you tried performing a restart on your Ionic? This usually helps when a watch is not turning on but is fully charged.

@SantiR I have the same issue. My fitbit ionic displays "unlock with phone". 

I browsed to Device Lock and it comes up as "Blocked".

When i click on it , it asks me to change pin.

I tried to enter a new pin after my fingerprint authorisation.

It went from "configuring tracker" to "Change pin failed, Sorry there was a problem changing your pin,Please re-enter your existing pin"

Then I tried to enter my existing pin. Then this message popped up "An unexpected error occured. Please try again later"

I have tried removing the ionic from my account and adding again. I did logout and re-install the fitbit app. Tried to restart ionic by holding all keys but still brings up the same "unlock with phone" when restarted.

Its been like this for 2 weeks now and my fitbit us useless now.

Any remedies to bring my ionic back to working order?

After many scenarios I ended up removing the app from my iPhone and
installing the app on my laptop. I was able to enter my password and setup
my iconic and then I removed the password all together. Then I reinstalled
on my iPhone
