Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

yes - same for me! (in Canada). And I have called and chatted with support and they have offered no explanation other than "just keep waiting"

After Many attempts, on the Email Link received, i finally got through and received my Fitbit discount on my IONIC recall, just placed my order on a new Fitbit. I Guess there is high traffic on there site.

I called customer service and they confirmed we are eligible for the discount code, but offered no explanation as to why I haven't received it yet. So far they have instructed me to "just keep waiting"...

My code works but says you need to connect watch to account but mine won’t turn on after charging and just goes warm!!!

I am going through the refund process but it says I have to link my ionic to my account but when I charge it it is going warm but not turning on so I can’t connect it!!what other option can I do??

I had that too. It did start working after about minutes of retrying. Think the page on one step says to allow up to 30 minutes for the accounts to sync with each other or something? I managed to get all the way to the end of the claim process, but haven't received any confirmation emails at all yet. So no code for the discount store yet either.

I just kept persevering with the link - it then said my device wasn't linked, so I followed the instructions and I re-set it up, and once synced I could complete the process.

Hi there - looking for other people in Canada who have been able to receive and use the 40% off promo code. It has been a few days and I haven't received it yet. Support keeps telling me to continue waiting and checking my email. I'm wondering how long it took others to receive the code?? Thanks!

The process is only complete once you receive a mail telling you that the your device has been de-synced & a link to activate the store discount.

Did your issue get resolved? I too cannot connect my ionic to my account as it does not work and i don’t know if i still can get a refund

@ArturV Were you looking at the sleep data on the app on your phone? I too thought mine was lost. But when I looked at my account online on my computer I see that it is all still there. Good luck, hope you find your data.

Today I received a message saying that I should accept the price return of my IONIC because they are dangerous and can cause burnings. I was asked to fill a questionnaire. Before I checked in Fitbit site about the true of this warning and yes it was there. I accepted to be reimbursed of the price and deactivate the Ionic. They wrote me telling me that they would put the money in my choice option and deactivation would be in about a week time and I would be warned about it.
The very last minute they clean all my data about sleep - it is essential for me and in my records kept by Fitbit also disappeared. I tried to pair the watch and he didn't with the message saying that by Fitbit decision was deactivated.
I feel very angry not only because I strongly need medical sleep control but also to stay without money and with an usefulness watch.
That is incredible how a company can lie and make huge losses to me

@Muzza232 I had to scroll back to say thank you so much for posting this link. I was able to register for my refund (which I guess I'll just wait patiently for) but after almost a day hadn't received a confirmation email or link & code to the discount store. I was able to use this link to register and instantly received an email with codes etc to order a discounted Charge 5, free extra strap and a year of Fitbit premium for free. Appreciate you posting this so much, thank you again.
