Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

I've started the recall refund process

. Device registered and deactivated... however no 40% discount code... has anyone recieved theirs? UK location... without the code I'll probably just keep my money and buy elsewhere!

In Denmark, during the Ionic refund registration I am asked for my PayPal account. But I do not have one. In the forum I can see that others are offered to use a Mastercard. What to do?

I’m so frustrated. Hi, I’ve tried repeatedly to register for my Fitbit ionic refund online, and have registered twice for a reference code to verify my request but each time I key in the reference code I received via email, it tells me reference code doesn’t exist. Pls advise

It’s very frustrating as I’ve tried to ask how to proceed via the live chat and now I see that is also not available. And no email address to ask for help

Make sure it is no space in the beginning and the end. I think it will work.

I received the recall notice and went through the steps to apply for a refund.  I was able to get to Step 2 which got my reference code.  I'm stuck at Step 3 because I cannot connect my Ionic to my account because it won't charge up nor reboot.  What recourse do I have?

I have got myself a new reference number yesterday (after trying 1,5 day with the first one from Wednesday evening 2th march) and guess what? In 10 minutes I succeeded in getting my account verified! Now I am waiting for further information by email. Ionic still functioning and synchronizing.

I am sad to let go of my trusty Ionic - I just bought a Fitbit Sense to test out so I’ve now deregistered my Ionic from my account to do this, I am happy to keep the Sense and now go ahead with the recall on my ionic, my question is if Fitbit will see I had an Ionic previously registered in order to proceed with the refund or does the device have to “actively”

be registered to my account? BTW, the sense is quite a decent upgrade!

FYI other UK users, i called the U.K. helpline for further info on the refund amount and they simply stated that it Would be $299 plus or minus an amount to cover exchange fees to the refund is issued in dollars which means that after the exchange rate we would only get around £223 +/- a couple of quid!? Hardly the £300 RRP most of us paid 😞
