Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I have raised a refund request and have given my account details as well. I received a confirmation mail on 9th March which said the refund would happen with in 3 to 6 weeks. However, I don’t have a way to track the refund nor to know whether it’s got stuck somewhere. The contact numbers provided for India are not reachable. Could you please suggest what could be done?

Has anyone chosen PayPal for their refund, and any idea if it is closer to the 3 weeks or 6 weeks that the refunds will roll out? 🙂

One month is gone - means 4 weeks - I had all my posts here in the Forum deleted and was suspended for 3 weeks just because they disconnected my Ionic without any notice and I am still waiting the refund by PayPal and the discount. The moderator young girl was really angry withy me for claiming my rights and abuse on the consumer. I consider deleting posts and suspending my participation it is an abuse on the consumer rights.

@ArturV 1, I phoned fitbit as was having trouble with online codes not working. As I'm from Australia for some reason some guy from the US answered. Although no help he and I were polite.
Finally got my new Fitbit today.
Refund takes up to 6 weeks.
Whining doesn't make it quicker and poor phone operates don't know much and cop abuse.

Hello
With me here what it happened. Received an alert about the IONIC battery problem and went to the same page you did. I read all the conditions about disconnecting the IONIC and refund way. I did put my refund option. Since the after a few minutes the IONIC just wasn´t anymore connected and I couldn´t pair it with my phone. So I believe you just did like me writing what refund method you would prefer. They have all data about your IONIC and so don't panic about not pairing because its that the way. What I panic its about missing information on the refund process.....

I looked at the Web Site today, as I have been on holiday and had not
received the two codes required, to check Fitbit products that are
discounted. Then by a strange coincidence my code and Promo code came
through today.
So I looked at the Sense and found it was the same price as Harvey Norman
etc, which also had a discount.
However I still haven't had a refund. I am loath to purchase via either
Harvey Norman or Fitbit.
Did you have to send your Ionic back as I haven't been requested to do so
but others on Website have and then they received their new Fitbit.
Regards,
Joan

Only people in USA have to send their Fitbits back. No other countries have to return their devices.

We were advised to recycle at an e-recycling centre. It seems only USA customers were required to send their back.
Both Amazon and Fitbit told me to dispose of the Ionic....which we haven't done. Just in case they ask for it while they're coming up with more
hoops for us to all jump through. 😅

I purchased a Sense after the recall of my Ionic. After using it for some days, I would like to activate the advertized 1 year premium membership. In my App, I see only 6 months free. How do I activate 1 year?
