Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

@SunriseRun496 Your fortunate! In Australia we need to have ours on our account to have it verified before we can continue with the refund process as we can't return it. Mine has died so unable to sync with my account. I've since logged a case number with support but still waiting to hear back as to what they will do about it.

When Fitbit recalled the “FORCE” tracker I had 7 watches, but they were not all sent back at the same time. It took 2 months or more with each watch to receive a refund once they were returned. Sedgwick is a different company handling the “IONIC” recall. With the Force recall the other company sent a plain padded envelope with a return address label only no tracking. At least with the Sedgwick company you receive an email letting you know the return kit is on its way via UPS and Sedgwick also provided a return tracking number and updates with each step as they process your refund. Remember Segdwick has to check each and every returned tracker to verify that it is an Ionic.

I never got any info from Sedgwick and sent mine both back 2 weeks ago. I registered them separately as instructed, haven’t even gotten the email about the return being received. Hope I get something soon.
I still don’t even know if I am getting another Fitbit, I truly loved my Ionic for the exercise stages and GPS. Yet I am not loving all the reviews for the other ones to get.

Have you seen the reviews for the Ionic? I personally dont know why everyone's intreasted in the "discount" code, as Fitbit as a company have ignore the issues
The problems with it started 1st yr it came out

Hmm.. maybe not Sedgwick, perhaps the confirmation email comes from Fitbit. In any case, I'm referring to the email that some have received that says that their refund is coming in 10 business days, I haven't gotten that even though it's now been 9 days since the Ionic was delivered to Sedgwick. But given the number of problems reported with the recall process, another late/lost email is small potatoes.

Has anyone actually received their refund yet ? I am in the UK. I had covid while I went through the changeover period, I just bought a new Sense with the discount offered. I worry my brain wasn't working properly and I've done something wrong.

Wow, it's strange to hear all these different rules. I dont understand these rules. Mine had one of the infected batteries. At the time I didn't know about it and was angry thinking the watch just malfunctioned. Ive bought numerous ones since then. How do they expect a person to have a broken watch on their account? Mine wouldn't even turn back on because it was fried. The article I read said they were accepting the watches under any condition as long as they were an ionic. It didn't even mention having been associated with an account. Im sorry you have to go through all these hoops. I hope everything works out for you soon.

I dont know if the sense is one of the ones but I love my sense and I had a versa 3 and it was also a great watch.

Sense is already on sale for 259.95$ so you’re basically giving a 20$ rebate for this recall?!? Are you kidding?

Why 3 to 6 weeks waiting for a refund? Now over 3 weeks since reported to fitbit and had ionic disconnected from my account - getting out of the habit of wearing one now so if they don't hurry up I might not bother!

If you have a PayPal account, you could try adding the virtual card to your PayPal account and then send the balance of the card to the PayPal account of a friend or family member. Be sure to send the money as a friend/family member so as not to incur any additional PayPal fees. Then get your friend or family member to transfer the money from their PayPal to their bank account and then onto your bank account.
