Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I think you have misunderstood the problem. I have participated in the recall therefore my Fitbit does no longer sync so that is not possible, however, it is still functioning as a watch and GPS tracker but I cannot change the time as I cannot sync it. Is there a way around this? Or do I have a watch that could be used but is useless as it's showing the wrong time.
I understand fitibit does not want people to use these because of the safety concern but I'm sure if I carry on using it after taking the 299$ then it is at my personal risk. I don't understand why they did not actually recall the and recycle them rather than just creating unnecessary tech waste that's hard for consumers to recycle, I'm just trying to make the most of the limited features that remain as I'm not a fan of this throwaway culture.

My ionic is kaput and have been asked to supply the serial number - which I can't retrieve, and half been told they can't verify that I had one!
Absolutely farcical!

why is it taking so long for refurnd..........first was told 4-6 weeks, now 3-6, what will it be when i call next week.. tired calling customer service and ARAMIS was condescending. tomorrow marks week 3 that you have had the device. Frustrated
--------------
i was told 299.00 but cant confirm and not sure why they didnt just offer a swap for another fitbit device, you would think they would do this to keep customers

Hi
I was advised earlier to drop the first zero after the +44 and it rang but i had to hold for over 25minutes before i spoke to someone. She said the payment will reload automatically at some stage but also said that if it hasn't after a week of activating my paypal account i must call back - and if that is the case i would have used a good portion of the refund, not to mention my time on these phone calls so i do hope it works as expected.

So, got email from Fitbitionicrecall@myglobaloptions.com (mailed by em5957.myglobaloptions.com) few weeks ago. I noticed it just now, since it was in the spam. The email seem a bit hoax, since there is link to website where they are requesting your credit card etc. No mention about myglobaloptions anywhere before this and there was "An inactivity fee may apply. Please read the terms of use upon activation." which seems a little weird too.
Tried to contact fitbit cs, they told me to call the brittish recall number. Waited on the line for 10 minutes and then decided to stop waiting, since it is incredible expensive to call from outside UK.
Anyone else gotten email from there?

Been waiting now since 3rd March & heard nothing since. Laughing here, waiting on the phone for some answer (30 minutes so far,) going to the link mentioned in the message brings nothing up so I’ve just tried the link someone’s posted here ..... “page not found”. This whole process is a joke. The only way for Fitbit now is down which is a pity.
