Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

It has been 6 1/2 months since I registered my Ionic for the recall, several phone calls to check on the status of my voucher, and now passed onto a 3rd party who "handles" those vouchers. When I call them I cannot actually speak with anyone in person. In my original email from Fitbit to start this process the email begins with, "Dear Valued Customer" and then gives me my Reference Code for the process. Just trying to bring resolution to the recall based on the promise of a $299 voucher to replace the Ionic device.
Sincerely,
~Not feeling valued

After 9 weeks waiting for refund, I’m still waiting for reasonable informations. Mails and expensive calls to UK are not helping. Very very poor services from Fitbit.

I see I am among many.
Six months on, multiple calls to Fitbit. Getting the runaround by them. Called the refund center, multiple times: "We do not know what is going on with your refund, but we can 'escalate' the matter... done several times. NOTHING! Email from some guy named Fabian at Fitbit:
"It is a pleasure to talk to you today. My name is Fabian. I am a supervisor for Fitbit, and I am here to help you with the experience you've had with us.
Upon reviewing your case we can see that your refund has not been completed and you have not been given further information even though more than 6 weeks have passed.
Taking into account the previous information we are going to proceed to forward your case to our highest team. You will be contacted really soon with a resolution."
Another message from some gal named Ann A. Same nonsense.
What are you guys playing at?

I tried calling the refund center (Netherlands) for weeks, because I did not receive my refund yet. They did not pickup, I was for hours in the waiting room. Now I send them a mail and read that my case is closed.
is there another way to contact the refund center?

Does anyone know what happens once it's submitted and deactivated? Does the watch connect to app but does not update/sync?

Obviously, this is for those who are affected that aren't in the US that does not need to submit their device.

Case Update! Amazing!
Ionic returned early April Multiple calls to Sedgwick with friendly but lame results Complaints on this FitBit Blog, Gretel from Fitbit contacted me email ... not certain how she happened to take charge of my case but after turning to this Community Blog to air my displeasure, i gave up trying to fool with the cordially clueless at Sedgwick. Venting here with other aggrieved members was more satisfying. I am writing today to announce that i have just received notice of the Ionic Refund. It's very sad with all the frustration. Being without a fitness tracker has surely caused many to lose their mojo. I'm wondering what would have happened to Fitbit had they been without the deep pockets to finance this return campaign. I wish y'all who are still waiting for your day good fortune. Thank you for being company during my time of misery.
Kindest regards
Postscript: i like the Sense ... so far anyway

@tu.chubby once the ionic is deactivated it’s useless as it no longer synch’s with the app.
