Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

@grother So sorry, I've no idea, this is my first time doing this sort of thing. It's been a couple of hours since you replied above, I'd try again. It does sound like you may have not typed what you thought you originally typed for the password. Be sure to look in your spam or junk folder for any emails from them. Good Luck!

Go back to the email where they verified your refund registration and provided a reference number. Click the discount link and put the reference number in on step 3. Follow step 4, can't remember what it was. You'll get an email with a code and instructions

@ BADmf

and not only that, in addition to the limited choice (only for those who update Ionic) the price has dropped by 30 € (33 $) per unit here in Italy
only 3 weeks ago I bought 2 for 180 € each (360 € total) if I had waited just a little bit I would have saved 60 € (67 €!)
the limited choice from what i see is only for ionic upgrade and only for black and gray
while for the free sale there are all 3 colors

thanks fitbit

I actually phoned Fitbit. It’s not your bank account number but the redemption code you receive on the email.

It makes little sense to me to limit stocks in the upgrade store. I’m willing to upgrade: isn’t that what Fitbit wants? Then make it easy! My order would be done by now instead of me considering other options…

I have completed my registration on 6th and we got confirmation from sedgwickbp on 11th March stating that the request has been verified. As per my understanding, once this step is completed then only 3-6 week wait period for the refund starts.

This whole thing is just frustrating.  I spoke (again) with "customer service" .  As they are claiming I was never a customer.  Which is silly, because I still have my receipt, watch and box.  My emails do not have the link you are referring to.  But!! I do have the redemption gift card they sent me 2 days ago....

I went ahead and follow the recall.  I was not happy about the selling of my email and ending up with over 3 pages of emails from crazy people.  Thanks for selling me.  I'm still dealing with all the scams of new bank accounts being opened and so on.....

What can I say?  FITBIT you really did a job on me with my EMAIL.

Hi I'm from Birmingham United Kingdom just wondering if anyone has actually had a refund for there fitbit ionic I've not heard nothing as of yet been nearly  6 weeks

@Reggie3t4  Fitbit have had your email for however long you’ve been a customer with them. It was sedgewick who you have been corresponding with over this so maybe blame them. But on the 4 weeks they’ve had my email I’ve not had one spam email

Could this recall have been handled any worse?

Well I truly believe your wrong. They sold my email period.

@Reggie3t4 Fitbit outsourced this to Sedgwick, other than the initial email to say that ionics have been recalled all the emails since have been from Sedgwick, as Peach above showed in photo from her google alert it looks like it’s them. I have been getting weekly updates about activity from fitbit for years and emails when battery is low and never had spam and it’s the only email that uses that account as it’s a old email account

Same here! Followed the link, put in the details but won’t let me login. Tried calling b4b payments to sort this out since Thursday morning but they seem to have no customer support. @FitbitCommunity please advise how this will be resolved.

I did a refund form on the 23th and I still havent gotten the confirmation email for the refund saying it would take 3-6 weeks. Am I doing something wrong? Or the refund is still in process even without the confirmation email?
