Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

It is frustrating and annoying but we have to keep at them until they’ve processed all refunds.

I had two options of refund.

1) Google Play & 2) Pay Pal.

Erronoesluly, i selected Google Play and these vouchers are of no use to me. Is there a way I can opt for the alternate method of refund. Happy to return all the vouchers from Google Play.

Refunds still can't be good. Changes can be forgotten.

I sent my ionic back to Fitbit for the recall. That was the beginning of May. I called in June and was told my request was CANCELLED along with a set of others. They re-entered my info and said it would be 4-6 weeks. Called again July 7th and was told it would be 4-6 weeks. This is a big runaround. It is august and I have received no communications about my recall request. I sent back my ionic, UPS says you got it, your support people say you got it. So it’s been 3 months. Support is abysmal, can’t get past them, nobody else to call, the request I’m told each time is “in process” frustrated.

That appears to be the next step. Thanks for replying.

Hello Team,

I got an email from fitbitionicrecall@sedgwickbp.com asking

This payment represents your refund regarding your Fitbit Ionic device.

So I wanted to know whether this email is legit or is there any Phishing behind it.

Hi Fitbit community

I had registered for voluntary recall of Ionic in April . Since then I didn't got any reply from fibit about what they will do with my case. Tried many times on helpline chat but that also didn't have any logical reason for this delay.

Today I had tried to switch on my Ionic and it's also can't be connected with app Any more.

My msg to management is that plz resolve this issue it's already 5months and Its still hanging on .

Hi Fitbit community, My husband did his IONIC recall process May 11th. August 1st we didn't get the reimbursement, I called the customer service for the recall 3 times and the only response I was able to get was: Yes something is not normal we will write an email to FITBIT.

I never received any come back, neither by Fitbit or that company. I tried to escalate with Fitbit and that company but there is no escalation process. I was wondering if that happened to anyone or do you have any contacts that you may have that I could use? I never saw a bad service like that:(

Thank you

Well this is how it has gone for me so far.
1. Heard about the recall in June
2. Retrieved my watch out of the junk drawer because I had been done with
trying to get it to work properly long ago.
3. Went to the website and enter info and chose to receive refund via
PayPal.
4. Received Return packaging on
June 15
5. Package watch and returned it on June 20
6. Got an email offering 60% off the purchase of a replacement. however, I
never checked what the website offered.
7. Called Fitbit to see if the truly received the watch that I had returned
on July 31.

Fitbit confirmed they had received the watch and it was processed on July
15 and I should receive my refund in 6 to 8 weeks from the date it was
processed.
I plan to wait until September 9 before I call them again because that will
be the 8 week mark.

If I were you keep updating the ticket/calling. Otherwise it will be
closed and you have the potential issue of restarting.

It's happened to me twice.
