Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

I am afraid they will mark it as sent, but you won't receive anything and no investigations from Fitbit, like my case, I am looking for a Facebook page so we can make this issue more public.

every time I try to escalate I get told they will go and check, and give it another week.
Never had a successful escalation.
Never had any payment emails

Any ideas how long we are all likely to have to wait for a refund?

Still waiting on my refund from April. I have called about 6 times and keep getting told they will escalate it. I normally get a different answer from everyone that I talk to. I've talked to a supervisor and they can't tell me anything either. They keep saying that it's the company that actually sends the rebates fault. No way to contact that company. Getting very frustrated

In my case I only got confirmation email that process completed and after that nothing at all. My ionic is also can't be used for last 5 months. And their is no light in the end of tunnel from Fitbit that how long it will take or what's next step in this process. I live in Malaysia and their is no recall collection center to contact. Such poor customer service never experienced in my life from such big company.

Hello all,
I recalled my device on 21 May and can confirm today that I finally received my refund via. voucher as I don't use PayPal in my country (NZ).
I must admit I almost gave up hope in seeing any response from this.
My advise to everyone is to keep waiting, I'm sure a large company like Fitbit won't run away with your money.

Hi,
I received a VisaVirtualAccount ecard that can only be used online or over the phone but when I try to 'register/activate' it says there's a technical error and when I tried to use it online it said 'unable to verify' and they won't process over the phone. It's useless! I wasn't given an option. I'd rather a physical card at least I can take it in store. I also just got an email with the link but no contact details etc for the loss adjuster Sedgwick.

I sent in my watch in mid-May and on May 26 received an e-mail confirmation that it was accepted and that my refund would be processed within the next 10 business days. I'm happy to report that I received my prepaid virtual MasterCard on August 5. Better late than never I guess. Just hang in there.
