Was using wallet feature on my Ionic for months with no issues. Tonight at a supermarket the card terminal suddenly said "refer to phone" and refused to process payment. Went to the wallet in my Fitbit app and found that the watch had disconnected from the wallet. The app attempted to fix it but the fix didn't work; it got stuck asking for the Ionic PIN which I know is correct but the app still didn't accept it.
Rebooting the watch and the phone did not solve the problem.
Factory reset?.

Honestly, I haven't seen the message you got before. It's pretty weird that it's referring you to the phone and showing you this information.
In this case, I would like you to perform a factory reset but keep in mind that this will delete your information. After this, try setting up Fitbit Pay again.
