Warranty replacement

Well my 1st ionics heart rate measuring failed after 18 months. It was replaced under the EU 2yr warranty. That replacement bricked after the recent Android app update a couple of months ago.

This time I was offered a new ionic or 50percent off another product. I chose replacement and the new one was DOA on arrival. Would only hold at best a 20% charge and would not sync.

Once again offered a direct replacement of their supposedly flagship model or 50% of a cheaper one. I took the ionic but am wondering if they actually know something we don't about the recent ionic update.

All I want is a functioning tracker.  Nearing the end of my 2 year warranty I'm suspecting fitbit will not restart the warranty for replacements. Fingers crossed this one actually works 🤞🤞🤞

Once two years hits for your original device you will be on your own in terms of replacement. They have already made it clear to us that once you are past that original warranty your options are buy a new device from them at a discount(not suggested as it will just have the same issues) or find another brand.

Agreed. But surely if they have issued replacements within that 2 years that should restart the warranty.?

It is after all a new device.....

Unless the EU is different and requires that, your warranty only applies to the first device. That is at least how it works here, you could get a warranty replacement a week from the end of it then a month later it could die from their firmware update and you are now out of a watch. That has happened to a few people here this week.

Well I assume its a new device!  My first replacement was a fully sealed retailed boxed unit. The second was a watch unit only in bag. I'm awaiting my third.

My first Ionic's screen died after 9 months. The second one lasted 8 months. I'm in the US, so I'm on my own. I was offered 25% off a new device. I have little  confidence that it'll last longer than a year. Basically, they want 250 bucks every 18 months. Is this a subscription model?

Any suggestions?

@judeep, I am in the UK and I think warranty periods only run from initial purchase date. However the item should be fit for purpose. If it isn't, which seems to have been proven by the failure of every unit you have had, surely there is a case for you to demand a full refund. Trading Standards depts. and consumer advice lines may be able to offer guidance in this. But whatever you do start any action before the warranty expires.
