Weather data on watch always old

Hi, the weather data displayed on my Ionic is always at least 20 minutes old and up to an hour old, even if I just synced my watch with the app on my iPhone 7. I see that weather info comes from “Accuweather,” and this delay is causing my watch to consistently report temperature information that is always old and inaccurate. As an example, I just synced my watch and phone, but the weather info on the watch says “as of 30m ago,” and so of course the watch say it’s 31 deg outside when in fact my Weatherchannel app tells me it’s 34 deg outside, which is correct. The Ionic is 3 degrees off, and it’s always like this. Can you make a change to how this function works to cause the Ionic to be able to display accurate weather data? Thank you. Greg Singleton

I have also noticed this with the Accuweather app on my phone. It is Accuweather. There is nothing Fitbit can do about this.

Hi Patruns, thanks for the Reply, but I disagree. If my local news app and the weather app can report accurate weather info in my phone, the so can Fitbit. They just need to up the ante on where they get their weather from. You get what you pay for, and Fitbit is getting old weather data and passing it along to us. They need to get better weather data. What weather service does your news and weather app use? How frequently are they set to update?

Fitbit I believe is set to you're when the weather is asked for.

No Rich, Fitbit uses Accuweather data which is consistently out of date according to Patruns. The only thing an Ionic user should have to do to get the “current”

weather and temperature is select the weather icon on the watch. It’s Fitbit’s job to get the correct/timely weather info to the smartphone and therefore to the watch. I just looked at the weather on my watch, and the watch says the info is 26 minutes old. In my opinion in 2019, this is unsatisfactory. The correct info is on my phone already in the Weatherchannel app. So why can’t Fitbit send that data to my watch instead of 26 minute old data?

I know fotbit issues AccuWeather but I was asking what weather service your phones news and weather uses?

If I go on a drive, pull in a rest stop, then bring up the weather on my wrist, often I see the weather report for the location I am at.

Now if as you say the weather source, that is Accuweather is always put of date, how can Fitbit be more accurate then it's source. I don't care how often Fitbit updates of the source is out of date, how is Fitbit going to get newer info from an outdated source.

Dude, that’s the whole point. Fitbit is using out of date data. Therefore, Fitbit needs to stop using cheap, out of date data and pay for accurate data so we can get the accurate data on our watches. It’s that simple.
