So I just ordered the new Ionic and it should arrive on Friday and was wondering about the ones that have received their Ionic so far what do you think?

No issues at all? I find that hard to believe. I was completely on board with Fitbit up until the Ionic. Such a disappointment. I had it for a month, and exercised 3-6 times a week, and the watch did not produce anything more than my Blaze did besides a better heart rate monitor. I gladly returned it.
I was under the impression I was getting the next evolution of fitness smartwatch technology, the next Fitstar (Fit Coach) integration right on my wrist, with a plethora of exercises over my Blaze’s preloaded 3, and more to be accessed for download. Nope. Maybe they’ll fix that, maybe not. But a fitness watch needs to stick with its fitness roots, above all else. I’ll come back once they fix all the issues.

I expected a lot more. Have been very disappointed with the buggy and limited run features and metrics. Fitbit's ads (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5gzx2S7Ras) gave the impression that the Ionic could compete with and perhaps exceed watches in the Garmin Forerunner range. No chance.
Haven't tried any of the new apps, but alerts not coming through from phone (a call and a few WhatsApp messages did once!), the AccuWeather app says "Sync the Fitbit to update app" again, and Strava hasn't synced since 30 November 😞
I've updated to 31.1.16. No noticeable improvement so far.

I couldn't wait to see the new Fitbit device to replace my Blaze and was checking the feedbacks/tests/etc a few days after the launch. Most of them were pretty negative at that time.
I didn't want to follow up on a daily basis, so just got back to the community today to see what improvement has been done through the past months. I'm sad to see that practically none... 😞
Firmware issues, sync issues, App Gallery is still "Coming soon", lots of negative comments.
I hoped to make Ionic as an xmas gift for myself this year, but as I can see I'll need to stay loyal to my Blaze. Or re-consider and Apple Watch which I never really wanted (typing this from a MacBook, and using an iPhone...).
I really don't see what's going on here. As far as I'm concerned, all issues are software related, and in 2-3 months even a lot more complicated system could be completely reviewed and fixed. But I don't even see Fitbit taking this seriously and allocating some resources at least here to update people frequently and providing some future release dates, whatsoever.

Actually, the App Store just got released earlier this week. It's nice, but there are a lot of apps I don't really use that much so hopefully more apps will become available soon.
Overall, I am happy with the Ionic, apart from a few syncing issues. I would also like to see a microphone incorporated somehow.

I am a long term Charge HR user, it sync's and updates beautifully. I bought the Ioniq in November and whilst it recodes my activities etc well enough on the Ioniq it refuses to either Sync or Update.
I have therefore returned it to the seller before the 30 day "grace" period expired and received a full credit.
I love the look of the Ioniq but it is unusable for me as I have spent hours trying to get it to Sync or even update with my iPhone fitbit App, which was advising me that I needed to update it.
I chose the Ioniq instead of the Apple series 3 watch but I still prefer the look, strap and what it does of the Ioniq.
I retrieved my trusty old Charge HR and it connected and syncs with IOS every time. What has gone wrong here?

as a heads up, the Apple Watch 3 is atrocious. I ended up returning my Ionic, trying the Garmin Vivoactive3 and Apple Watch 3, and finally came back to the Ionic. Thankfully everything bad about the Ionic appears to be software/fixable which they slowly are fixing.

I agree with the software aspect being easily fixed, but what about the promise of such things? Is that not worth anything these days for a whomping $300? I also don’t agree with the Apple Watch 3 being atrocious. I’ve had my first one for little over a month now, and I love it. It has all the fitness tracking and apps I need, plus ease of use of overall apps and a fantastic interface.
The heart rate monitoring is not as good as the Ionic, and there is a lack of a sleeping tracker, like you said about software updates though, it should be an easy fix, it’s only a matter of time before Apple implements that, as all the hardware is there. I’ll gladly give Fitbit another chance on their next go round. I also like the microphone and speaker of the Apple Watch, that should be a staple on all smart watches! Now my Nike app speaks to me during workouts.
This is the expectation I was hoping for on the Ionic, even though i known the latter was not promised. We will see how they adjust for the short comings.

Overall I think the software side was rushed to market. The hardware side is solid from what I can tell. I am going to stick it out and see if the software side gets better and make a decision closer to my possible return date. I am leaning towards keeping the Ionic right now but if I don't see commitment to making progress on the software side of things I may change my mind. The last firmware update showed some progress but I honestly want to see more.

I am really liking this so far, at first I was not sure but now its awesome, the wifi and music syncing to the watch really sucks, but what I have been using it for, running on the treadmill, steps, heart rate, running outside (they fixed the bug of the watch restarting when receiving a message during a run) now with the new store up and the new watch faces I am very much enjoy this. and the 5 day battery life !! my friend has a apple watch and he plugs it in every dam night ... so he can do sleep tracking he really just uses it as a watch.
also it looks very nice to...

I had the Vivoactive 3 for 2 weeks ant the HR reading was laughable. The Ionic is correct,as compared to my chest strap and I also trust Fitbit's other data compared to Garmin. I have had many trackers of both companies and would never trust Garmin's data again.

I always laugh at the people who complain there is no apps store and about bugs that we're already fixed.
It is true the Ionic was not a finished product when released but it is getting there and has so much potential.
I had an apple watch 3 for two weeks and it was terrible. It took 4 or 5 apps that didn't play well together to do what the fit bit does. Heart rate and steps did not appear to be accurate either.
I like the Ionic because everything is simple, intergrated and has easy to read displays.
I should mention I wear reading glasses and most stuff on the apple watch was unreadable while running or biking.
And to be fair text/email notifications on the Ionic are way too small too.

Please explain your 4-5 apps. I’ve had the Apple Watch 3 for a month, and it’s just fine, has more to offer, and bug free. I use Activity, and it tracks just what I need. You cannot call stock apps “apps”. That is an unfair misconception. Fitness is part of the watch, gps is part of the watch, the timer and stopwatch, part of the watch. There is no Fit Coach like app, but is Fit Coach not an app you have to download on your phone? Comparable to the Activity app? Your argument is flaccid. The hardware is there for the Apple Watch 3, and much more, with room for potential with software updates like a sleep monitor. So witch watch really does have the most potential, the Apple Watch in my opinion.

I'm pretty tired of the whole Fitbit experience.
Buggy (well broken) devices, sold on misdirection backed up by woeful support.
Gutted fitbit have pulled this game again. The ironic will be my last fitbit product. Monday its going back to the store to either be replaced or refunded due to hardware issues (screen is dead).

I had no expectations at all with the Ionic, I wasn't aware of the promised features a lot of people seem to have highlighted (and rightly so)
Having been a Pebble user since the original Pebble, I tried the Apple Watch series one and two, I have had various Android watches and the Samsung Gear 3 (it runs Tizen Samsungs own OS) and recently got the Ionic.
Honestly is the Ionic perfect? No, does it have flaws, yes, a few especially in Android with the synchronisation issues.
Will I return it? No as I think the hardware is sound it is just the software that requires fixing, so I use the Ionic rather than my Gear S3.
Yes they are making strides in the right direction, but for some this is not acceptable and I get that too.
Since the latest update the phone application no longer decides to drain by phone overnight either, it shows promise but was released too soon from a software perspective in my opinion.
But I like it and the form factor as it reminds me of my Pebble Time (which I still have 🙂 )

That’s good to hear. I really do like what Fibit brought to the table as a whole, and I do still believe they are the best at what they do best, fitness, and can corner the market indefinitely with a few changes and overall just sticking to their main market and what got them customers like me in the first place.
I can definitely see myself repurchasing a tried and true tested and upgraded and improved Ionic, or the next gen Fitbit that just blows the competition out of the water (no pun intended) with a Fitness Watch like no other. Time will tell.

With Apple Watch you had to use 4-5 apps that don’t play nicely together.
Want to track calories? You need something like UnderArmours MyFitnessPal.
want to track sleep? Most (not all) 3rd party apps make you manually record when you go to sleep and wake up!!
Apple Health is a Kludge.
To make matters worse for anyone who is far sighted most functions are near unreadable.
When running the Ionic has large fonts that are easy to read. Progress bars take up the whole screen too!
Running apps show steps taken and other data the Apple Watch does not.
and to top it off, if you want anything decent on the Apple Watch you have to pay extra.
it is great to see Fitbit does care. They are slowly rolling out their App Store and other things they promised.
Last week I created my own watch face and an app that cycles through my photos as a background! It was extremely easy! ( Apple forces you to use proprietary SW and crate an iPhone app first )
