Why can't the Fitbit Ionic sync with a cable?

I've had a couple of Surges and am on my second shoddy Ionic now and I really have to wonder... Why can't I just plug the thing in with a cable and get it to sync or update?

Syncing and updated can only be done with Bluetooth and WiFi connections, as far as I can tell, and that seems to be the problem. Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes a reset or factory reset does the trick, sometimes it doesn't. Why can't we just do it the old fashioned way and plug it into a computer? I don't have fun trying to sync it with an android phone, an apple ipad, and a PC, restarting each one and the fitbit, trying everything I can, just to have it eventually sync when the planets align the right way.

Please fitbit, on future models, just admit that insisting on using Bluetooth creates more problems, and just let us plug the thing in!
