Just got my Ionic (love it so far!) but I can't connect to my wifi router. when I plug in to my laptop (which I have to do to get anywhere with this), I get a "Could not connect to <network>" as shown below. When I first tried, I had to enter my SSID password as expected but it failed and subsequent attempts don't prompt me but just fail. What can I do?

By chance are you trying to connect to 2.4 ghz network or a 5 ghz network? Ionic only runs on a 2.4 and if I remember also needs your computer on that same network.

When you get to the tile that shows the wi-fi name, tap on the name. This should bring up a dialog box where I believe you can change the password or retype it. Or you can forget the network and then start over.

TRY CHANGING YOUR ROUTER PASSWORD TO A HEX WEP KEY!! 

I've spent several hours with the same issues & FINALLY got it to work by changing my router to a HEX format WEP key (A-F / 0-9).

I was originally using an ASCII key with zero luck. It would appear that the Ionic doesn't support ASCII encryption methods?! I tested this by trying both 64 bit & 128 bit ASCII passwords and both failed. I then set up 64 bit & 128 bit HEX format and both times connected without a hitch!!

This would have been nice to know before wasting HOURS of frustration. Hope that helps someone else from giving up entirely or returning!

 

Hints:

To create a 64 bit WEP Hex Key, you need to enter a combination of 10 digits. You can choose any letter from A-F or any number from 0-9. Sample HEX WEP Key: 0FB310FF28

To create a 128-bit WEP Key, you need to enter a combination of 26 digits. You can choose any letter from A-F or any number from 0-9. Sample Hex WEP Key: 0FB310FF280FB310FF28123456.

I found that ASCII with WPA2 works, but ASCII with WEP will not work with my Ionic.

I just had to switch to WPA2 after my wife's Macbook wouldn't connect to the 64bit Hex WEP. 

After finally getting it connected & music loaded I was let down yet again by terrible sound quality. Music playback from the watch was the sole reason I purchased this product over a Garmin. Well that feature is pretty much null and void now.

Been using fitbits since the first Charge. Then Charge hr, Charge 2, Blaze, Flex 2 and so on.   I just set up my New Ionic. I’m very excited.  It asked to connect to my wifi router.   I don’t believe any of the other ones have ever asked that. They connect to the phone and that’s that. Why is the ionic asking to connect to my router?? (It did, seamlessly by the way). Just curious.

@Tedzone The Ionic uses the WiFi to download music at this time. There may be other uses in the future as other apps are written for it.

I cannot get my to join my WiFi and I am using a HEX Key I think
