fitbit ionic connectivity

I just purchased and connected my fitbit ionic.  At times in my office i have no internet connection available.  will my ionic not sync without internet?  i thought it would sync through bluetooth like my other fitbits have in the past.

When you do a sync it takes data from your fitbit and uploads it to the fitbit servers. Your phone / computer then displays the data it finds on those servers - the data is not held on the phone. So, to sync, you need bluetooth to connect your fitbit to your phone / computer and you need internet access to connect your phone / computer to the fitbit servers.
