Fitbit Support informed me that iPhone 8 is not compatible with the New Ionic. So frustrating as I pre ordered this watch as soon as it was available, I have waited the month and I can not use it to its full potential. Wonder how long it will be until it does become available for the iPhone 8.This is how far I get
Best AnswerI have the 8. It worked. Occasionally. But it makes sense why i had a lot of probs with it. I ended up returning it. I miss fitbit, but wow the amount of money for all the headaches. Truly we are their beta testers. I hope they appreciate their fan base.
I've only had it for a few days so I don't know if I can do challenges. It seems to do everything my Blaze could do except I can't control music from apps like 8tracks (yet). When I first got it, it was showing wildly inaccurate steps but that seems fixed now. I also have to keep syncing it with my phone to get weather to show up. Everything else seems to be in working order.
I also have the iPhone 8+ and it’s working fine.
When I first got the Fitbit Ionic it worked straight away then I realised it wasn’t syncing. So I have been back and forth to fitbit. Now i have gone back to Apple which I really didn’t want to do.
Absolutely gutted. I have had a Fitbit one, a Fitbit flex, a Fitbit Charge HR, a Fitbit Blaze and even use the Aria scales and then was sooooo pleased when the Ionic came out and was waterproof and GPS. Could not wait - my husband pre-ordered for my birthday and it was fab, I loved it. Then I updated my old iPhone for lovely iPhone 8 and now my Ionic doesn't work and the Fitbit help team casually tell me that it is not a compatible device. It no longer even records steps and is therefore essentially just a very expensive watch. I am the ultimate Fitbit customer and will be looking for a total refund and looking at another tracker. Gutted.
Best AnswerAll, I hope this helps but I ran into the same issue. Upgraded to iphone 8+ today and it wouldn't connect. Make sure your device is unpaired with your previous phone, turn off bluetooth etc. On your new iphone 8, sign out, delete and reinstall the app. Restart your watch, sign into the app and try again. It worked for me!
Best AnswerWorks on my iPhone X without issues. Did restore it from the iCloud backup of my iPhone 6 though.
The Bluetooth chipset on the iPhone X (Apple/Murata USI 170821 339S00397) is a little different from the one on the iPhone 8 (Apple/USI 170804 339S00397), but the drivers of iOS 11 should deal with that so it seems pretty weird to me that it wouldn't work on all iPhones...
Do you have any other bluetooth devices that have issues on your iPhone 8? And is your iOS updated to the latest version? There is some chatter about bluetooth issues with the iPhone 8, might be related?
