Will my ionic communicate with my fitbit phone app via bluetooth?  If my phone has no internet it will not sync at all. I thought they communicated via bluetooth for more then just the music.

When you do a sync it takes data from your fitbit and uploads it to the fitbit servers. Your phone then displays the data it finds on those servers - the data is not held on the phone. So, to sync, you need bluetooth to connect your fitbit to your phone and you need internet access to connect your phone to the fitbit servers

The Ionic does communicate with the phone via bluetooth.  But to sync, then your phone has to communicate with the cloud (fitbit database) to complete sync.

Your phone is only used as temporary storage before data goes to fitbit.  Also some data comes back from fitbit to phone.
